I haven't dealt with them, but I think there are a couple of owners of these kits here on these forums.
Bicton Men's Shed purchased the Heavy Mill 1500x1500. Excellent service from Ben Harper.

Ideally I want to look into a heavy duty setup which will cut a full sized sheet and solid timber stuffs (I mean I would really like a 3mx1.5m setup do flatted live edge slabs or table tops) and if its really expensive at least I will know in my mind how much its all going to cost so I can justify it in my head with time or then look into something smaller afterwards

In that case you need a bigger/similar version to mine
Regarding rigidity mine will outperform cnc routerparts

Obviously not exactly the same but with a few improvements. You will have to either go for rotating ball nut or racking due to the length of the axis...Also with mine i wasted cutting area so making use of space by design will be best.

If you honestly feel up to doing it....my extrusion supplier will cut them with precision for you. They will also machine all the holes for bolting them together. Your big problem will be machining the aluminium bit's. But it's very doable

If you like i can draw up a 3m x 1.5 cutting area unit. Then we can determine the cost of the extrusion?

Sounds good - can we make it a cut area for sheet goods (2.5x1.3ish) rather then 3x1.5?

When you have your website up and running, do you plan on selling kits like CNC router parts do?

For sure the plan is to build quality machines. For a start i can only do spares for panels and complete control panels. David from cnc3d reckons his new machine can do what you require and 2.5 x 1.3m

He uses rotating ball nut for motion on the long axes which is good...Maybe contact him and get all the details. His machines are near production already

I'm following this with interest. I would like a smaller machine.

Well, i have been investigating. Looking at the cncrouterparts design, i don't rate their way of rack and pinion drive system. Damen cnc make a properly designed system to reduce backlash...plus they supply a precision rack. However these are at a high cost. Check out Damen cnc for details. Looks like the cnc3d might be the better option atm. I will not be able to make this size machine at this stage. I would love to help but i am not ready for such a big build. My design is for ball screws, you either need rotating ball nut or rack and pinion for a machine of this size. I am yet to look at those two designs. Good luck

Thanks. What is your company going to be called? Or do you have a URL yet? I will keep an eye out as I'm in no rush.

I will get in contact with CNC3D too to see what they can do.

Is there an online community you recommend I join? Something like WWF but for CNC

Seeing the topic is “DIYCNC” I thought I’d ask this question.

Apart from dirt and dust from the CNC process, I s there any disadvantage in using linear rails and bearing blocks over extrusion and wheels ?
