Thanks for that Greg. That explains why my machine doesn't do the dance as I have all my switches on .. hold on, no I don't.

My A and X axis are both on the same circuit, but my Y axis is on a separate one. Hmm, too much trouble to change right now, but at least I now know what to do when I want to do it.

    Thanks again Greg

    Thanks Greg for the information.

The idea of using the B axis and that I need to run dual homing switches is good to know from the outset. I'll start looking at incorporating these going forward

    Okay guys,

Im up to having to get my dual x axis to slave and YES, i have a smoothstepper!!

So, i gather that the micro switches must be located exactly in the same reference position on each side of the gantry so i can achieve as accurate a square gantry as possible. I would also guess that I can tweek the figure that is used to come off the home switch to ensure squareness.

    Q. When i reference home, (greg mentioned using DoOEMButton (1022)), did you mean that the gantry needs to be positioned within a mm or so to the reference switches as X will drive first and then A/B will drive which implies the gantry will twist a little and eventually right itself after the dance?

I think i like the idea of using RefCombination(17) over 1022 as someone who knows Mach3 and not my machine might decide to reference the unit to home and with "17" they dont need to know about having to move the gantry close to the home switches to perform the gantry squaring

if your bed is "perfectly" square , they never are , so fix 1 , and have the other on fine adjust screws

you might even get a difference in angle the same batch of switchs trips at ( 0.1deg) enough to matter
how come a 10mm peg dont fit in a 10mm hole

No it does not need to be close to the switch before referencing.

The first action is done with the slave axis still slaved to master. They both move in unison.

After the master does its homing, then the slave is deslaved and slave does its homing whilst master remains still. Then slave axis is reslaved.

    Refcombination does it all simultaneously.

Again, this is all with the LPT.

Smoothstepper may be different. Smoothstepper seems to change homing method with every new firmware version. I don't use SS on my router.
