Feeds and Speeds
Hi All,
Reading through some of the threads here some people seem to trade feed and speed data. Each cutter is unique, as is the material its used on. I recently bought some CMT upcut bits from CarbiTec only to find there was no chipload data on their site (CMT).. FAIL!!!
An ex employer of mine with a CNC that cut 1/4" ali all day swears by Onsrud cutters. I had a look on their site and was absorbed in the tech docs page. It clearly explains feed rates, cutting speeds, vibration, Depth of Cut (DOC) as well as issues customers have had, with applicable solutions.
Anyway I found an Onsrud cutter similar to the CMT and used their chipload data to calculate a feedrate for acrylic. Result? A frikkin great cut first time... until I crashed into a clamp down screw which minced the cutter (and the screw) woops!
And here is the resource!
Chiploads | Feeds and Speeds | Metal | Plastic | Composite | | LMT Onsrud
Enjoy.

Google can help you find many answers to many questions.
For drill bits try;
Drill Speeds & Drill Feeds for Inch Drills, Metric Drills, Number Drills, Letter Drills:
For spiral upcut cutters, I just plunge at about half their feedrate.
