    Default Gender of CNC Machines

I was asked the other night if a CNC machine was male or female.
    I think of my cars as female - she's a beaut or she's a .........
I hadn't thought of CNC gender and usually refer to the machine as an "it". It is good or it is playing up but most of the names for my machines point towards male gender.
So are the machines male or female or it.
    Cheers,
    Rod

Rod - this is an easy one - they are obviously female.
When you give them enough 'sweet talk' they are pretty amenable, but always expect the unexpected, and when they get cranky, they sulk for days at a time, then blame the males.
They can also get pretty bitchy whenever we don't treat them right, and always tend to do things differently each time in order to keep us on our toes.
nevertheless, where would we poor guys be without them?

    Female...no question :

    1. They can be expensive to get/keep.
    2. They can be plain stubborn headed and non-logical.
    3. They will almost always at some point do your head in.
    4. They are addictive.
    5. You would re-arrange your shed for one.
    6. They are usually noisy.

I am pretty sure Russell has got it in one!

Notice I have not used any words to describe or incriminate myself, like the US administration you have to have TOTAL DE-NIGH ABILITY.

Just kidding, but seriously they just have to female.

    Cheers

    Noel,
I reckon you would have your bases covered on this one.

    Russell,
Would disagree on point 5. No way would I rearrange the shed - just keep expanding the collection under the patio, carport and I have my eye on the inside now. What are my chances of a machine in the activity room??
I have a mate that has a bedroom in his house set up with two lathes, a large mill and other metalworking machines. Oh I forgot to mention he is single.

A least the poll was good for a bit of a laugh and I am going to go against popular opinion and call mine "He who does what he is told". Sort of fits well with me and I think I did it once but I have been wrong before.
    Cheers,
    Rod

    Mmmm,

Its female, I say this becuase when your just running the cnc through a dance it sounds like sweet music, but the moment you make it work and start the router up, you just want to shut it up becuase of the incessant noise

    Just kidding

Heh, well to contradict myself a little...most machines do have nuts...

Careful Rod, you may get us all into trouble Though the activity room should be used for activity !

But apart from that, still female for me.

    Russell.
