    Default Help or Advice needed re engraving Numbers

    Please see the photos, I have an Omni Pro 80 watt Laser Engraver, uses LaserCut 5.1;
    The bottom two lines of Numbers are direct from LaserCut 5.1, the Horizontal lines are missing???!!
    The Top two lines are from Bitmap images I created in PhotoShop, I have included the two images so you can try it on a scrap piece of wood for me----just in case it is my Bitmap.
    My intention was to have the whole of the number cut into the material, not just the outline. Thanks Amos

    Amos,
    Don't think we are ignoring your posts - there aren't many laser users on this forum.
    Len would be able to help but he is on holidays in England.
    Sorry I can't help.
    Cheers,
    Rod

    I assume that you are cutting it as a pocket tool path, as otherwise it won't work.

    Edit:
    I just reread the question and have one of my own. When you import the bitmap into whatever program you are using, does it show the outline as a complete DXF file?

    Bob, the image is BMP format(1Bit) and when I import pictures in that way I have had no problem?! Thanks for answering, didn't realize we didn't have too many Laser Engravers here, was beginning to think that I have posted in the wrong area,(if that is the case please let me know) Amos

    Hi Amos

    This is the correct area, just not very many people have a lot of expertise in the subject here. Maybe one of the American forums would be better able to answer your questions.

    However, when I expand your bitmap, the edges are all blurry. If it is a proper uncompressed bitmap this should not be happening. That is why I asked about the DXF.

    If you can convert your pictures to DXF format and then use the resulting output as your sample, you will get crisp clean edges. Inkscape is a free program that will do this for you.

    I think this may be the reason for your problems.
