Default Help needed with cnc settings please, as per attached image

    Hey g'day folks,

How do we go about rectifying this..I appologise in advance if this topic is already covered in the forums, I don't know the termanlogy of what I'm chasing to even qualify a search.

I've made a poor mans illustration of the issue I'm having I don't know what to call it so I'll do my best to explain.
    peaks-and-valleys.jpg

The arrows represent direction of travel and the rectangular box represents the toolbit.
The shape below the arrow represents the job to be cut looking at a slice.

Figure 1 tool moving left to right moves upwards instead of cutting to the shape on the left hand side it follows the shape comming down on the right. Same thing comming to the second bump from the left moving up instead of going to the shape and follows the shape comming down on the right.

Figure 2 the opposite second cut moving up whenever approaching a shape from the right but following the shape down on the left.

For all intents and purpose it sort off catches the shape on the second pass.

I've noticed in a lot of work that has good detail, it is at times missed because the Z axis is already moving up before the shape - so when you look at the job its got a wavey pattern.

Is it possible to set your cnc router to cut as per illustration 2 and 3.. so the bit travels according to the shape of the objects that are being cut.

I understand a ball nose is always going to leave a rounded corner due to the shape of the bit.

Is this inherant in the way a router cuts?

Is there a name for the process I'm trying to understand?

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve

It's a little hard to give suggestions without knowing what CNC software you're running, but if it's Mach3, do a Google on Constant Velocity.

    Hey g'day,

Thank you for taking the time to reply, didn't even think to mention I use Mach3...

Constant velocity search underway, thanks again for your time.
