Default Need Help: New machine - G540 - 110V Huanyang VFD - Chinese spindle 1.5kW

    hello everyone,
My name is Marc and am new to the CNC community. I have been gathering parts to build my first CNC router.

So far all axes move but I am having issues wiring the 110V Huanyang VFD to the G540. It is now powered but the spindle does not spin.

I have tried to program the VFD as explained here: Huanyang Chinese VFD settings and manual here!
    PD0013 to 8
    PD005 to 400
    PD004 to 400
    PD003 to 400
    PD144 to 3000 (but i think i should change it to 24000)
and have set PD008 to 110v

    What should I do next?

    If i understand I should:
    - short DCM and FOR on the VFD to turn the spindle on
    - connect G540 pin 7 to ACM on the VFD (top row?)
    - connect G540 pin 8 to VI on the VFD
    - connect G540 pin 9 to 10V on the VFD (I think it is the pin 10V on the top row)
    - program VFD PD001 to 1
    - program VFD PD002 to 1

Not sure what I am doing...

I think this thread is better on the detail.
Here is a post i made a long time ago, but it explains what I set and has a brief description against the settings

    https://www.woodworkforums.com/f170/t...tml#post966445

    Summary from post:
    VFD Setup:

    First:
Change PD001 Source of Run Commands to '1'
Change PD005 Max operating frequency to 400hz
Change PD004 base frequency to 400hz
Change PD003 Main frequency to 400hz
Change PD006 Intermediate frequency to 2.5
Change PD008 max voltage to 220v
Change PD009 Intermediate voltage to 15v
Change PD010 Min voltage to 8
Change PD011 frequency lower limit to >100hz (120hz to start)
    Change PD142 7 Amps
    Change PD143 2
    Change PD144 3000

In addition, Mark Hastings made lots of good progress on this unit and this post may also help clarify the settings for you

    Extract of the post:
Things that I had to change:

PD142 = 7.5 (not 11 as was the default) This is the motor max current... kinda important
PD144 = 3000 (not 1440) this will get the speed display right

Have a go with this. I have buried in a dark spot a full list of all PID settings I use, I can did this up for you if needed for a ref
