Hold down toggle clamps
I was looking at getting some hold down toggle clamps like the ones here, but at that cost I thought it was reasonable (and fun) to make my own.
I did some hunting around to see how they were made, and I came across Izzy Swan's very nice design, as shown on his youtube video .
It turns out cncnutz has cnc cut a bunch of these already, and has also arranged with Izzy to make the .dxf files freely available.
cncnutz's video is here . The .dxf files (also crv, pdf, xps and skp) files are here.
I'm still learning to drive my cnc machine, so I cut a test pair out of some crappy scrap mdf. After operator error got in the way a few times I had two working toggle clamps which seem to work really well. I'm planning on doing some destruction testing with the mdf ones, and cutting out some more out of a more suitable material.
I hope this post was useful for anybody who needs some hold down clamps for their workshop.
Has anybody else got any useful homemade/cnc made tools they use about the shop?

sharing
actually you just hit below the belt, i do share some files and some i don't expecially if i could sell a few items before its free.
Mind you now the file i did download was metric,so i will have to work at it
Wish you had not connected the dots to me
So then i went back just for the heck and tried to upload the drink holder and because of its size it would not go and then i *.rar and it would not go
so how does one upload the dxf file

I've always considered its up to the creator as to how much of anything they want to share, and woodman has provided quite a lot of information by posting his videos online. I'm pretty certain I can adapt and copy what he has done from what he has posted.
My thought on the vac hold downs was they looked fairly simple, but would need to be customised for the material being used - i.e to suit the o-ring dimensions and the plastic base material. They didn't look like a big cad exercise, and if I had an available vacuum source I'd probably have gone that route as well. They are on my one-day list, and I'm planning on using woodman's design as a reference.
If it helps, a 20 second duckduckgo search produced the posts #128 #129 over at cnczone in this thread
which has a couple of dxf files for a vacuum hold down. The posts are by CNCRob.

not really sure how we wound up here, but I'll take a final crack at it before I give up. Saisay, there is no obligation on anybody, when they download those particular cad files. Their creators have chosen to make them freely available. Similairly, woodman has chosen to make certain information freely available about the vacuum hold downs he has designed. The amount of information he chooses to release is entirely up to him. Therefore having a go at him for downloading the cad files and "not sharing" is inappropriate for two reasons:
1. He has freely shared a significant amount of information on the basis that others may find it useful. He was not under any obligation to do so. Nobody had any right to that information but him.
2. There was no obligation of any sort on him to provide information when he downloaded the cad files.
I don't know about you guys, but I just want to have fun making stuff with my cnc machine. Can we leave that topic behind us now, or with a final response from either of you if you think its necessary?
Another device which I've come across, but haven't yet built is a parallel rule. I think its something which could come in very handy setting up for certain jobs on the cnc machine.
I came across a simple design for some in Five Hundred and Ten Mechanical movements, by Henry T. Brown, which is now out of copyright. The nice folks over at 507mechanicalmovements.com have put it up on the web, and it makes a handy reference.
The parallel rule is here, and 507mechanicalmovements.com is here
