    Unhappy Huanyang Control Panel Needed

I need a digital control panel for the Huanyang VFD.
I get no response from chinese suppliers.
Maybe someone has a dead VFD and no further need for the panel.
Alternately info on where I might source one.
    Thanks in advance.

    Default huanywangy panel

I don't know what your problem is,but if the buttons aren,t responding I may be able to help with that. This is a common problem and involves replacing the SMD switches after you take the cover off the panel. The switches are a peculiar size .The readily available ones, however are some pretty close ones that can be supplied by Jaycar,or if you try Element 14 they may have the right size-I didn't know anything about them ATT.
You need a good sober techie to solder them on the board, they cost at Jaycar less than $10 for set with some spares left over. Element same I would say their service is top class and fast.
If you can't get the correct height ,pack the cover up a bit on reassembly,I can't remember what I used but was nothing fancy, that was about 3 years ago-its still working!
    Hope this helps Regards, Broomy

    Default Huanyang Control Panel

    Hi Broomy,
    Thanks for the reply.
My controller just flashes F299.99 and does not respond to any key presses.
I connect a controller from another VFD and it works fine.
I will take the tactiles of the board and check them out.
Thanks for the response,I will let you know how I go.

You probably have tried everything but just in case, when you replaced the display from another unit, did you replace the display and ribbon cable together? If so, check that the other end doesn't have a short or is incorrectly seated as I had issues with the ribbon cable when i first got mine. Also if you get to the SMD tactile switches, try measuring with a DMM that one isn't shorted as its weird that it displays a frequency and not an error code.

    Default Control Panel

Thanks Joe & Daniel for the replies.
I have checked the switches on the malfunctioning panel with DMM and it appears that none of the switches are working.
I am surprised that all 8 switches failed at the same time .All pins on each side 1&2 and 3&4 show continuity but non across when the button is pressed.
The same check on the working panel all check out OK. Looking at the tracks it would appear that only 3 pins are used.
I will replace the switches and see if there is some other problem.
    Thanks again for the help

Very unusual, but stranger things have happened. Hopefully after replacing the switches all will be back to normal.

    Default Control Panel

After removing the switches I dismembered them and there is corrosion on the discs at the contact point that is non conductive. My experience tells me that poor plating, and lead solder created bi metal corrosion, is the reason that all switches failed at the same time.(Cheap Chinese Components???)
