Smile Huanyang VFD and 2.2kw spindle

Hi there again, just when you think you have every thing under control yet another little problem arises, I have programmed the vfd as per the info I got on this forum sight, but when I press the run button all I get on the screen is F0000 flashing, the first question is: do I need to have the spindle attached? and is there a special way of executing the command, I have tried to follow the manual....... it is still chinese to me even if it is translated into english, I have read all the threads I have found but I must be missing something .... somewhere. Thanks to all members that have so far answered all my questions that I have posted, they have been very helpfull and very appreciated.

From memory, if the display shows 'r XXXX', that's your running frequency and if it shows 'F XXXX' it's your set frequency. Sounds to me like you might not have set the speed initially. If it's flashing, it means the drive is powered up, but not enabled.
When I first power mine up, it flashes 'F 125.0' (or whatever the pot is set to) because that's the set speed from the pot inputs. Once I hit the go button, it stops flashing and shows a steady 'FXXX.X'
I think if you hit the 'up' button, it will go into speed setting mode. It's been a long time since I've played with the key pad, so my recollections are a bit dim on it.
I wouldn't run the inverter without the motor connected...

    Hope this helps

Running the inverter without the motor connected is fine.

Fair enough... My antiquated ways go back to when inverters first came out and the first sign of no load and... phoooph! they're gone!
I've always been too cautious to try it since! (especially when it's my money that has paid for it )

Yeah, that can still happen with computer power supplies.

Thanks John, I will give a try, somewhere I must have entered a wrong value or something, I must learn how to operate the VFD by trying to decipher the manual again. I think I will connect the spindle very soon and give it another try.
    Regards

    Default A bloody miracle

After reading and re-reading the manual, I decided to go through all the pd settings, the first one I changed was pd001 from 1 to 0 and it WORKED, the spindle is now running like a charm, next step is to add a pot to control the speed rather than using the key pad.
