    Default Huanyang VFD - does the fan ALWAYS run?

    I bought a Huanyang VFD, works fine. But the cooling fan on the top of the unit is always running, whether it's operating equipment or not.

    The only way I know to stop the fan is to turn off power to the whole VFD.

    Is there a setting that can be changed? Or a way to turn off the VFD without actually turning off power to it?

    As anyone who's set up one of these units knows the instruction manual is lacking!

    If the power to the VFD is present, then the VFD is running. Just having power to the VFD means that it is generating heat.
    A simple way around this is to do what I have done myself and that is to have a manual switch that powers the VFD on and off. Simple to do and completely obviates the possibility of false starts. (And constantly running fans.)

    I guess it doesn't have a temp sensor in there so it is always on, on some other vfds I have used the fan turned on and off as needed.
