Huanyang VFD question
Hi all,
I bought a Huanyang VFD online, and am wondering if it's the wrong one for my needs. Hoping someone here can maybe shed some light...
The VFD is labelled as a 110v 1.5kW inverter. The label on the side (partly in chinese) states that the input accepted is single phase 110v ac. It also says that the output is "3ph 0-110ac 1.5kW 13a".
I didn't know there was such a thing as 110v 3 phase power? I'm in the US.
Anyway, my motor is a 2hp leeson 3 phase motor, and can be set up for low voltage (208-230v) or high voltage (460v).
Does this mean that my VFD won't work with this motor? And if so, is it possible to even find 110v 3phase 2hp motors? Don't think I've ever seen one...
Thanks in advance!

If I understand the US power supply system, you have access to 110V for lights and small appliances or 220V for larger appliances.
You need to have a 220V (or 200 to 230V, depending on where you live) for your 2HP machine. The VFD needs to be connected to that - therefore needs to be a 220V VFD - and you motor needs to be configured to 220V 3-phase.
I suspect your VFD is the wrong one.....

What is the model number of your VFD?

My very poor understanding of US power leads me to believe there's a couple of different power configurations. There's single phase 110v, split-phase (3 wire supply) that gives 110V and 220V, 3-phase 208/120 (the volts drop a bit by the time they reach the load) and 3-phase 480/277 which is kind of the same as the 415/230 we have in Australia.
I'm guessing your VFD is for motors designed to use 208/120 (the former voltage when connected in wye (or star) the latter when connected in delta). I imagine they do exist, but probably not common, and certainly not the same as your motor which sounds like it's designed for 480/277.
For it you'd need a ~230v drive and a 220v mains supply, and the motor would need to be connected as delta (there should be a terminal box on the side of the motor to allow this).

Hi,
The model number of the VFD is HY01D511B. I've attached a few pics of the nameplates on the VFD, and the relevant pages in the manual. Unfortunately, the manual is a generic one for multiple models, and only talks about the 220v and 380v models - no mention of the 110v models, which this one appears to be...
I've contacted the seller, and am awaiting a response...
Thanks

It does seem to be a 110 volt model.

Yup - the seller responded fairly quickly to me question, and it looks like it is 110v in, 110v out. Have requested an exchange for a 220v version...
Thanks for all the input,
