I am with you completely. I sell the Axiom CNC which is a $10k machines but it will withstand the test of time. I decided to sell the axiom machines as they are the best quality in their format and I know they will cause me little to no headaches.
As you mentioned the $10k price point is too much for the everyday hobbyist I have spent the last 6 months working with Axiom developing a lighter duty more cost effective small format CNC router. I have just finished my review of the pre production model and I am super happy. Product launch will not be until later this year maybe October so hold tight but if you have any specific questions please feel free to PM me. It will be Ballscres all axis, Profile Linear rails all axis, UCCNC Controlled, T-slot table, Spoilboard, 800w air cooled spindle and a table size of 600x600. RRP $4899.
Again I am new to this forum but happy to offer my knowledge in CNC to anyone that asks and we sell a lot of components also so PM me if you need anything.

Hi Reuel,
Thank you for your feedback.
We believe and 800W spindle is more than capable of doing all the work presented to a machine of this size and specification. We have yet to announce the spindle specs but there are 800W spindles with ER20 collets on them (13mm).
We have based our selection on our success and experience using and selling branded spindles of this size such as the 800W Kress spindle and 700W HF Tekno Motor.
As soon as we start marketing happy to provide some videos to show it in action. Jumping up to a 2.2KW would be great but there is a lot of added cost involved. We have built the Axiom platform using an industrial 2.2kw Water cooled spindle which is this machines bigger brother. This has a much heavier duty frame which can withstand the loads presented when pushing a 2.2kw spindle to its limits.
Cheers
Barry

I already have a 6040 CNC with 800W ER11 already it only cost me $1500 works for engraving and template/sign making but NOT for good enough for real woodwork routing.
For $5,000 I would be able to get a 90cmx60cm with ER20 (1/2" collet) 2.2k water cooled spindle.

There is nothing wrong with Chinese CNC machines. Buy from the bigger factories like ChinaCNCzone.
An ER20 (1/2" collet) 2.2k water cooled spindle is available in Australia for about $300 so I can't understand why Axiom want to "cripple" their $5000 machine. Why not sell at 6,000 then. Without a 1/2" collet and powerful 3HP motor you do not call it Woodwork Routing.
Portable routers with 800W are often called "laminate trimmers" rather than routers.Reuel

Hi Reuel,
You make some strong arguments but I am not here to debate our retail price or products from other suppliers including China.
We at BG Precision just offer options of machines we have on the shelf in Australia, factory built to the said specification which we have tested rigorously and offer on the ground support. We have input into the specification and quality of all the components purchases and ensure the meet Australian standards. I offer anyone to come and take a look someday because all we are doing here is number bashing which is not the same as looking at the detail in the flesh. at the end of the day the choice is yours.
I agree with you there are many Chinese products on offer that are a fraction of the price but with the figures you are presenting are open ended when you cannot tell if we are both comparing apples with apples.
BG Precision is happy to customise all our products to your specifications and if you were to need a 2.2kw spindle that would be possible or look at the Axiom AR series. We use industrial spindles and Delta VFDs which cannot be source for 300$

You said that this machine is for hobbyist.
As a hobbyist I can use
e.g.
2.2KW WATER COOLED SPINDLE MOTOR+2.2KW VFD INVERTER MILLING DRIVE 400HZ ER20
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-2KW-WA...AAAOSwx95a8mFC
NSW stock (free shipping) at ONLY AU $297.26
Why would I get a router with 800W ER11 aircooled spindle?
That is my point.
I suggested that you sell at $6,000 which is more than $1000 more. That should be enough to replace the 800W ER11 air cooled spindle (NOT FREE) with a 2.2KW WATER COOLED SPINDLE MOTOR+2.2KW VFD INVERTER MILLING DRIVE 400HZ ER20 that cost less than $1000.
(Hobbyists make B&D prosper more and swallow up Dewalt, ELU, Delta, Porter Cable etc.)Reuel
