Still kicking
Been lurking every so often,so I thought I'd clock in and say Gooday.
My home built router has clocked up over 600 hrs now, many relearned lessons later ,things are operating well.
I started building it about 6 years or more ago, using info from this site, trying to copy Rod and others, mine wouldn't win a fashion contest tho',fell for most usual traps of course.First spindle lasted about 45 seconds I estimate!.
That started a crash course of learning about Huangy Wangy VFD's, naturally, Noel bailed me out on that one.
The reason for all the hours[before you ask] is I cut lots of MDF.There is a subject a book could be written on !
I haven't put up any pics cos I don't know how-plus its built on a budget with normal workshop tools.
Probably the only out of the ordinary bit is the boom.
My early design suffered with boom flex,I thought the cost and weight of those fancy looking extrusions excessive so used a builders plank which was about $30 a metre and was much lighter.
Also Rod asked me at the time for my views on dealing with Chai,as there was some queries I was having with him then.
I can say that my dealings have been very very good,I had a mix up a few months ago,he is more than fair, some rails arrived incorrect ,Chai sent the right ones no charge.I have to sell the others now and reimburse him the difference. Can somebody tell me how to do this, please?
I'm 80 y.o. next birthday and far from a nerd-this post has taken a long time to do at my rate. Best to all broomy

Hello
Hi Broomy, Good to hear you are "still kicking". It has been a while since we last met and I have often thought of you but I have been very slack in not keeping in touch. I could use the excuse that life gets busy sometimes. Now I am retired it seems even busier but I will make time to catch up. My machine has been running well also and I have been having a lot of fun using it. Have you completed that race car yet?
All the best
Peter

And so we learn.
There are several fairly easy ways to do this broomy. The first and most obvious is to advertise them here on this board.
Just list the details and see how it goes. A picture is always a good thing. I assume that you know how to get a picture on to your computer. When you have done that and you are making up the advert for this board, just go down this page until you get to 'Manage attachments'. This will allow you to find the pictures on your computer (one at a time is easy) and then upload them to the forum.
Just try a few things and I am sure that you will succeed.
If they fail to sell here, then Ebay is the way to go.Bob Willson
The term 'grammar nazi' was invented to make people, who don't know their grammar, feel OK about being uneducated.

Hi Peter, finished that car it was a road registered clubman, drove it 200 kms that's all.Sold to NSW, new owner drives it to work and Eastern Creek for Sprint meetings etc my design but looks like a Lotus-they all do!
Now building a Mallock U2 circuit racing car replica ,it will keep me off the streets[if I live long enough to finish it!
Thanks Bob,I'll give it a try.att boom pic,the holes-front and rear reduced boom weight by .9 kg,
I'll practice with a couple of pics here, with your approval.
