more learner issues
hello everyone
finally getting my CNC to work
i am still having issues setting up G-Codes to work properly, so am hoping someone can help
i am using 2D-cut trying to cut out a pattern for a butterfly (annoying little neice thinks it would be good, if grumpy uncle tony, made one for her
)
i would like to cut it in a series of cuts, 1.5 mm at a time
iv tried doing it by setting up a series of tool paths @ 1.5mm each time
with a final cut of 0.50mm with tabs to hold the work piece in place (i will work out the tabs bit at a later date).
The first cut does what i want,
but when i click on second tool path to start what i thought would be a second cut 1.5mm deeper than the first it just follows the same cut
i zero off the top of the work piece each time, because when the machine goes to home its 30mm above the work
have thought of a second question is it possiable to set it up that it will do all the cuts i require (using the same bit) in sequence rather than clicking on each tool path in turn

Cut 2D will do the full depth of cut in 1.5mm increments no problem, and will also add .5mm thick tabs no problem in the same single toolpath. (I normally run tabs a few mm thick but that's your choice)
I think you may need to look at some of the tutorials/guides to get a better understanding of how to use Cut 2D.
If you want send me your .crv file after you have programmed in your material size and imported your CAD files and I'll program it for you so you can go over it and see what settings I used.

I saw your post on the other forum.
As they said, you do not need a separate toolpath for each cut.
Cut2D is pretty basic and I hardly ever use it but I did cut my CNC teeth on it.
Go to toolpath and select your tool, click EDIT and set the cutting depth to 1.5mm. Click OK. That will only change the tool depth for this particular piece.
Set your start depth to 0.0mm and the cutting depth to 5mm. That will give you the passes you want in 1 toolpath and the program automatically selects the depth of the last cut. Select outside. Click calculate.
Save your toolpath.
You do not need tabs because the tool will leave a very thin onionskin that you can cut with a knife.
Before you start cutting, set up your XYZ0 and when finished the tool will return to there but above the material.
If you do need to use a different toolpath, click "Return to XYZ0" before you start cutting again. You do not need to set XYZ0 every time you change toolpath.
