    Hi Bob,
It is Tslot aluminum tube and has an internal web to give it added strength.
This thread gives all the contacts for the slotted tube.
The heavy is the wall thickness.
    Cheers,
    Rod

Took the day off yesterday and pleased to see Lebot progress and start looking like a machine now. I am on the count down list now so another week should see it finished - maybe.

The table is just sitting there while I ponder if I should trim it to the frame size or let it overhang and protect the motor - see photo from back of machine. Once I sort that out I will drill and tap that so it is adjustable in height.

Cross clamping T slot is in place and brass nuts turned. Sheetmetal covers for the llinear rails made and sloping towards the table to help shed the dust. Pleased with those (4 versions made including a couple of stuff ups) as they are nice and high and will provide good protection for the X axis linear rails.

Limit swithes and cable managment are next.
    Cheers,
    Rod

Well it is all but done and dusted. Just have to fit the laser (note wire hanging from gantry) and tidy up a few bits here and there.

Performance is too good and had to detune so that it was manageable in the mid size cutting envelope. I stopped at 9m/min because I kept crashing it so have settled for a lazy 4m/min which is more than adequate for the machine and my reflexes.
    Cheers,

That is not a machine.....It is a work of art !!!

I think this manual arts teacher will be getting the bargain of the year.

    Thanks Bob,
Glad to see it finished as it has been an intensive time because I didn't want to keep the buyer dangling too long waiting for it. I know what it is like if you make your mind up to buy something and have to wait for it.

    Thanks Greg,
I don't know about a work of art but it works!!! I did a silly thing and did it's first run in front of the buyer which is inviting Murphy Law but everything went well. The buyer is wrapped and I think more so becasue he could see the capabilities of the machine for his profession as much as the finished machine itself. Good to see you back from your trip and trust you had a great time.

I now have that silly grin even after building so many it still is a thrill when they take their first steps. I think I need a beer and take the dog for a long walk tonight to calm the nerves so I can sleep.
    Cheers,
    Rod
