Too many suckers on ebay, you will get a good price but it will be cheaper for someone to just import a new set from overseas I recon.
{EDIT}
Opps. Missed the branded part.
Just wondering but why are they so expencive? I know they are accurate as hell but they must mass produce these and then even if they got US or AU labor it shouldnt be so much.

Yeh, the new rails Im using are lsk's from our china friend, because I couldnt afford 1100mm rails in thk, they were another 1400 plus alone, and I still had to use my carriages.
That being said the new ones are more than adequate but as far as rigidity and glide they dont even come close to the thk's. Example stand a rail up with thk carriages and they slide straight down almost frictionless with nil side play, were as you stand the the lsk rails upright and the carriages dont move
Difference as I said for our applications is negligible but they are deffinetly different animals.

A bit dangerous comparing new rails to used rails The silicone seals on the new rails need to wear in and of course this is the drag you are experiencing.
Having said that Steve is absolutely correct about THK quality and they are made in Japan so that is why the cost is high. Materials and quality control is top notch and if you are going to make an industrial automated system then there probably is a safe bet THK components will be used.
LSK's I think are made in Korea and the Abba a similar quality is made in Taiwan. These are good quality and will outlast our machines so it is hard to justify the added expense of THK's.Cheers,
Rod

Correct.
The industrial cnc milling centre we have at work runs thks but its cable of 20,000mm/min. Its in applications like this, that you want top shelf stuff
