    Hi Russell,

I thought about what you said, and I do have some rails that would be suitable as a start, but in the end I know I don't have the tme.

Yesterday I put the money down on the TM20V, so we will see how it turns out.

I just need to find a way to fit in into my shed.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Hey Pete,

I have a bit of space in my shed - should be able to squeeze it in for you!!

I had a look at the mill on line and it looks to be a good buy. I understand the thing about time...
Well I will be watching with interest with the conversion of this mill.
I will be throwing in my 2 cents worth every so often.. will this be good or bad???

I should come out and see if there is enough space.

How is your CNC router coming along?

    Cheers,

    Hi Russell,

I'm more than happy for advice and review. I

So far I've got the G0704 conversion DVD from Hoss Machinery. Even though the G0704 i not exactly the same, they are very similar. I'm assuming that the maker of the TM20V has mounted the column on top of the base is so that the mounting surface on the base can be machined at the same time as the rest of the base, ensuring that everything is parallel.

I'm planning to use a belt drive of 1:1 rather than direct drive. This is for two reasons. The 1st is to reduce the overhang of a direct drive setup as the motors will be tucked back under the axis.
The 2nd reason i that it gives me the opportunity to try servos with a 3:1 ratio.

    Cheers,

    Peter
