Looking for someone to sharpen endmills
Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and I hope you might be able to help. I recently bought a 2nd hand CNC router table (quite a large one) and it has a spindle moulder on it (as opposed to a router). That is not really the issue but the table came with about 10 endmills that were used to cut out boat ribbing on the table.
The guy that sold the table claims the endmills cost him a small fortune and I was wondering about getting them sharpened.
I have tried a few places but so far cannot find anyone in Sydney that does this sort of intricate sharpening. Maybe I need a toolmaker of some sort? I rang Hare & Forbes and asked if they knew anyone but they were no help.
I was wondering if anyone can suggest a person that might do this sort of sharpening. They don't have to be in Sydney as I can post them but I would prefer to find a local person.
I am not averse to having a go at sharpening them myself but I don't think I could be it properly without the right knowledge or tools to do the job. Hence, I thought I would get them done by an expert.
I can upload a photo of the endmills if that helps.
Thanks in advance.

I was under the impression that most if not all saw doctors would also sharpen assorted other gear such as router bits and end mills.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

I didn't consider saw doctors as these endmills seem too intricate. Maybe my mistake?
I have to say though that I can make a reasonable go at sharpening most saw blades (if the time justifies the cost - which it often doesn't in this throw-away world) but these endmills are in a different league.
That is not to say that a good saw doctor is not way above my "league". Any recommendations would be appreciated?Last edited by Derivs; 16th February 2012 at 06:34 PM. Reason: Missed a bit
