    Default ox CNC spindle upgrade

So im upgrading my spindle on my ox cnc and just wondering if anyone has put a 2.2kw (around 6kg) or a 3kw (9kg) on the ox and if the x axis would handle the weight?

    Hi mat_au

The problem would not be with the X axis but far more likely to be with the Z axis. It is the Z that has to lift the weight of the spindle.

However, there are ways around that problem. You could use a weighted counterbalance or even fit an air assist lifter.

yeah i got that problem solved. i kinda went over board with the spindle. i got a 3kw spindle and it weights 9kg and is 100mm dia. it looks very out of place. the other thing i was thinking was building another x axis and have the spindle in the middle of the 2. or sell it and get a smaller spindle or build a bigger machine lol
