    Default Purchasing chines machines

    Gday,
    Eyup,
First let me say this is my personal experience.
I recently purchased a JOY6090 CNC router with 4th axis from China but unfortunately it had a few issues as follows

    1. Upon opening the crate I discovered there had been water ingress which had sent the 4th axis chuck and base rusty ( not a happy chappy ).Told to scrape off all the rust , sand it down and paint it and everything will be OK.
    2. The control panel facia was cracked. Told to make a new facia and fit it and everything will be OK.
    3. No digital readout as per the photos of the machine on the net.Told you dont need and everything will be OK.
    4. NO EARTH CONNECTED very dangerous to say the least. Told you didnt ask for earth but you can put and everything will be OK.
    5. All electrical connections had to be checked for tightness. You can tighten and then everything will be OK.
    6. Cables from control box inserted through unbushed hole. You can fit bush and everything will be OK.
    7. No ferrule numbers on wiring. No need everything is OK.
    8. No electrical schematic. No need everything is OK.
    9. Documentation in some form of English but certainly not the one I speak.NO COMMENT but everything OK.
    10. The machine came with a copy of NC Studio and some other equally as useless piece of software.Machine will work OK
    11. Although I could get things to actually move in the manual mode , nothing worked correctly in auto , it just set off to the limits and then cut out.Good job I am nearly bald otherwise I would have pulled it by now anyway.
I have sent 100s of emails to try and get the issues rectified or compensated for in some form but the common answer overall was you can sort that out and it will work OK because we are too far away.
They were prepared to send me the lead from the VSD to the remote digital readout but the freight was dearer than the lead so when I come to China we can give it to you.
If it wasnt so bloody annoying it would be humerous.
Anyway all that said I am in the process of rectifying all the issues and as the Chinese lady Lois said it will work OK no thanks to them...
You get what you pay for!!
Be prepared to do some rectification.

    cheers

    Trevor

Did you buy it through ebay? you could potentially raise a dispute as the machine is not as advertised.

With the limit switches tripping: Are the switches configured as Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC)? NC tends to be more immune to noise, so if you can change to NC it might solve your problems in that area at least.

I guess i've been pretty lucky with my 6040. It arrived with one of the bed extrusions dented and no documentation, but otherwise in good condition. I'm also not using their controller, so your mileage may vary.

I don't know where you got yours from but mine did come from China all I got was the frame and steppers the rest came form Homann Designs. I have had it now for over a year and no problems. All up so far with bits and table for the CNC to sit on under $2500. David

Mmm, lets start with for the price your paying for the unit, I guarantee it is a fantastic purchase, yes it will need some modifications to suit you.

The problem these days is cnc from china is cheap, so everyone is getting into cnc with very little knowledge. Its not like a toaster, where you put some bread in and push a button and wolla you have toast. There is a requirement for you to understand cnc and design

My first cnc was made by me and my hands with knowledge gained from a very helpful forum contributer rob mell, my second cnc was made by me, my third cnc was purchased from china, after I modified the things I thought could be improved its fantastic, my fourth cnc same deal ex china, my fifth sixth and seventh cnc machines are all ex china.

I with my knowledge cannot buy the parts and free build it myself, for the same costing a finished product supplied and delivered to my doorstep from china.

Yes you get what you pay for, but expect to use some common sense at this end to get it the way you may want it

Seems to be a common theme with the Chinese machines, basically keep the mechanicals and throw away any electronics, in my opinion that includes the VFD but that is just my opinion as I believe that some people have luck with them after spending a few weeks going through the forum help threads and learning to read Chinese.

As Steve mentioned you will not buy the parts required to make your own machine for the same price, I'm about 4K into my next build and am nowhere near having a working machine. Having said all that I would not expect any Chinese machine to work out of the box, or abide by any safe wiring standards. Also don't keep any of the stepper wiring that comes with the machine, it WILL fail sooner or later.

It isn't all bad though, if you purchase some decent electronics from our Aussie suppliers and spend some time re-wiring the beast you will end up with a half decent entry into the world of CNC.

Have fun and keep us posted

    Cheers.

    Russell.
