Default A Question From the Administrators

    G'day CNC'ers.
We often get posts like the one below from China flogging CNC equipment.
Sometimes we put the info on this forum..........other times they get treated as Spam.
I have attached a poll to this thread which is anonamous...private........to get an idea of what you all reckon.
    Please vote for your choice.

    Geeze, hard call.

I personally hate spam to the point that I would never buy from a spammer anyway.

I can see that sometimes you may learn/find out something new from it.

Where do you draw the line?

What spam do you allow & what don't you allow.

Maybe you put it on/in a 'Notice Board' folder.
    Cliff.

I dont want them shown, but I clicked the only option I didn't agree on

You only open the door to more spammers if you allow posts in the open forum.

The email address bothers me. No domain name. It should read [email protected]. not doris @live.cn. To me this rings alarm bells.

Hard call - if they are frequent or repetitive then they are spam but then again there might be some new information that is valuable.

Mind you haven't missed them so what ever is easier for the moderators - they can have my vote.
    Cheers,
    Rod

Generally I don't want to see them, unless I get an itch to buy or research something then I go looking on Google.
So I chose the noticeboard option.
    Cheers,
    Steck

I agree that it is hard to draw the line. I especially agree with jack that this in particular rings bells with me on domain names... 10yrs yet still no setup in a website admin email, however on the other hand there is plenty online to show its around (youtube etc). Hard call. Adding all to the one spot would result in someone finding a dud (even though most would check out thier history...there are some who are not that tech savy to do so), so for me its an admin thing, without going to NCIS lengths i would only allow confirmed companies to do so but i don't think admin would want to do this.

I'd get them to pay small fee for the advertising rights and put them towards the forum and prizes. I bet alot would back out straight away, the real companies will not quiver to promote even if its in the form of prizes.

Do you have an option for anybody who does not really mind either way?

Something like 'I don't care' or 'I don't have an opinion' or 'I don't really give a fat Rat's...' you get the picture.
    Cliff.

Too many becomes spam, but getting a chance to see what they offer is interesting, I think.
I doubt I'd ever go via their path, but it's useful to have it for comparitive purposes- just not scores of the same every week.
