I gave it a little test and the cross piece seemed to be crabbing a little. The only thing that would make this happen is the linear bearing blocks being out of alignment or binding; so I took off a block on the side that seemed to be doing most of the crabbing and found all the little balls inside the bearing up at one end of the bearing rather than spread out nicely along the length.

Hold on, (I thought to myself) I have rusty balls. I was correct. The attached pictures show what the inside of the bearings was like AFTER I had cleaned most of the mess away.

I thought that I could maybe replace the balls myself and make it all good again. 100 3mm balls = $9.60 here in Australia and each block needs just under 100 balls. The price of new bearings direct from China is $9 from Ebay or about $17.50 each delivered if I buy from an Australian source. So a set of eight of these from Australia costs $140 or if I wait a few weeks then it will be about $76 for two sets of four delivered from China.

I have ordered 8 new bearings but they won't get here for a while.

Are they the same bearings I have ? if so I can drop mine around for you to use whilst ya wait as they are just collecting dust at the moment and I wont need some probably until next year they way things are going.

PS best price I could find for MDF 2400x1200x32mm $62.90 per sheet + gst some wanted $90 for one off.

Nice to hear from you.

Thanks for the offer, but the Chinese ones came yesterday (which is a lot faster than I could, what with my rusty balls and all).

I got some 2400 * 1200 *18mm. 4 sheets for $56 each. (Moisture resistant in case of re-flooding). Your price is a lot better than mine, where did you get that from?

I'll go and buy 580 knock in 'T' nuts and start boring holes for them ASAP. Good job the machine can work on itself

A friend's single story house was flooded to almost the top of the roof in the January flood and everything inside has been removed leaving only the frame.
They need to do a final pressure wash and sanitise straight after Easter and then want to let the place dry out for 4 weeks before bringing in a builder to start repairs.
The owners are worried about mould down the track - lots of horror stories in the press.
I was wondering how long you left the downstairs frame to dry before you replastered?

It is still bare framework. However, I think that it would have been OK to re-sheet the walls some time ago.

Once the mud has been removed I don't think that mould would have too much to live on. A light spray with Dettol or something and all would be roses again.

I can liberate some Anti Fungal that can be mixed with a solvent that I can also liberate if needs be this isn't the same stuff you put on Rusty balls whilst listening to Dorris day either

we use it in our wood products and its good stuff, so good even the BCC is using it.

We need to catch up mate when I get some spare time also I will have a lot of spare room in that 3 bay shed for some of your equipment if need be very soon
