Default What size stepper motors are needed??

    Hi,
Wondering what torque stepper motors would be the minimum for a CNC with the overall dimensions of 450 x 350mm that would be used to rout wood? Thanks

Why do you want to use minimum sized motors?

Well you could use these then "NEMA 23 BIPOLAR STEPPER MOTOR 156 oz-in"

But larger ones would be preferable. try
"NEMA 23 BIPOLAR STEPPER MOTOR 282 oz-in" or even larger.
It really all depends on what sort of performance you are expecting to get and also what the type of build is and what you are driving.
You have not yet supplied enough information for anyone to give you a good idea of what you may require.
    Such as:
    what router or spindle
what speed you hope to obtain
is timber all that you expect to cut
    etc

Bob is quite right, it is a very open ended question. My machine was built from guesswork and cost cutting and although it works, it is much less than ideal in oohh so many ways.
I understand that for someone new to CNC you may not know exactly everything you will use it for, but if you set a high minimum, there is less chance you will be frustrated by limitations later.
My machine is approx 1200 x 1200 and my motors are only 280 odd oz/in but running through a huge reduction which limits speed and introduces backlash issues.
Ideally they should probably be about 3X bigger, and will be when I find time to build the next one.

    Cheers.
