Thanks for your reply Bushmiller, I have decided to go with the 2.2kw water cooled model, should be plenty for what I am cutting.
Thanks Row, I will check with the supplier for exact diameter, wish me luck! Cheers Paul

    Default Water cooling spindles.

Can I ask about the coolant used in these "water cooled" spindles? I read somewhere on this forum I think that rust had caused the demise of a water cooled spindle. If tap water was used I could imagine that rust would eventually develop. Are people using additives in the water or using Glycol or car radiator coolant to avoid rust?
I am not far from deciding on a spindle and cant make up my mind whether air or "water" cooled.
    Thanks
    Peter

Interesting Peter, I guess I never really thought of the rust factor? I suppose it would be worse if you don't use the machine all that often as well, interested to hear what those who own them have found or have done? Cheers Paul.

The other issue is you may have different metals in the cooling train - eg ally radiator from a computer CPU cooler. I would use any good car coolant as a starting point and piping high or one way valves to keep it primed to prevent air in the system.

When I was thinking about going watercooled I was going to use the coolant that pc users use for watercooling their pc.

    Water Cooling Coolant and Dye

^-- online store that sells some

or at a minimum distilled water.

Usually returns to the reservoir, or goes through a radiator to cool. (has an inlet and outlet at the top of the motor)

    Hi Bupton

No, the water is recirculated via a bucket or some other container.

So, in one side of the motor via a fish tank pump which has the suction end of a tube in a bucket of water or something and then out the other side of the motor and back to the bucket via the other tube.

Ooops, just noticed that Ch4iS had already answered you
