No worries Kim. Noise is a big issue with any VFD but I think the HY 's are particularly crappy. Took me quite awhile to isolate my issues and I have pretty good shielding and separation etc.
In the end the biggest change turned out to be the quality of USB cables more than anything else. But I think every install will have its own issues.
This is not a shot at anyone but I really think people need to read and re read the manual (and decipher the chinglish) until they get a grasp on what all the parameters do. Its not good to rely on what others have set as they may be different setups.
This is high power stuff (both voltage and current) and its rotating sharp things at really fast speeds.... best have a good understanding of how to control it. Remember safety first!
Cheers

Copied from CNCDIY
1. If your inverter has a error code "E.Lu.S"
Step 1: PD200=65535
Step 2: PD209=selecting 50
2. If your inverter has a error code "E.oA.A"
The frequency setting of the inverter is not matching with the VFD spindle.
Please reset the parameter
Step 1: PD005=400
Step 2: PD004=400
Step 3: PD072=400
Step 4: PD003=400
3. If the knob cannot be used to adjust the speed of the VFD spindle.
Please reset the parameter
Step 1: PD002=1
Step 2: PD070=1
4. error EL05
Please reset the parameter
Step 1:PD200=65535
Step 2:PD209=100Bob Willson

HY02D223B VFD no reverse
I have a HY02D223B. I have it running on a Bridgeport clone cnc mill. Remotely I have speed control with a pot, and forward and reverse switch, but no reverse. When it is in forward position the forward led is on, but the reverse is flashing. Also it takes 5 to 10 sec. to start up and a while for it to stop. It is like a capacitor needs to bled down. Do I have a parameter wrong or a bad VFD? Thought I would ask questions here.

Sounds like parameters to me.

Dave I've attatched the manual.Read the section on acceleration/deceleration, Ignore DC braking as most/all of these VFD's don't have the components populated to use this function. Check pd023 for reverse disable....
A word of caution:
There are several revisions of this VFD out there so this may not be applicable to the one you have ie mine definitely does not have parameters into the 200's
Also 65535 is FFFF in hex which basically usually means its an empty memory location (all 1's) just like 0 is all..... you guessed it zeros.
I've never found that you need to set parameters in any specific order
If you are able to build a CNC then you are more than capable to figure out how a VFD works.
I could give you a full list of the parameter set (and have done in other threads in the past... but its not the right way to go. Beter you understand the beast rather than follow blindly and get lead off a cliff.
I'm guilty of this too (after all I'm a guy) but people......
RTFM!

Dave,
Your post is unclear. Can you answer this for me.
1. Did you wire the VFD yourself?
2. did you use VI or VR on the pot control?
3. what are the LEDs connected too and how did you hook them in. I hope you added an appropriate resistor.
4. I assume you mean forward works, but reverse is not functioning.
I have a friend who bought a BP clone and I made up a chart of the values for him to enable just what you seem to be asking. I'll dig it up and post it for you. I would check your settings against these as his unit works as expected.
Also, ramp up and down is configured in the VFD. I would probably leave it alone as this helps not to trip the circuit breaker. I found it keeps the current drawn on start up below 2.5 amps.
Also, I would set the motor RPM to 1440 (this is what my mates motor rating stated) and then use the BP controls to vary speeds. Using the trim pot will probably reduce the life of the 3 phase motor. Maybe someone can confirm for me that by not running the motor at the recommended RPM will reduce its life.

A good answer Mike and I would further suggest that people read this whole thread and also follow any links supplied. None of this information is trivial and could be just what is needed to fix your problem.

I got the reverse fixed. Didn't have a 1 in PD023. Now I have reverse. Most want to set up a router for 20,00 + RPM. Last night I red the manual, and it tells what each PD is for.
Thanks for the help. I won't be able to play with the vfd till this weekend. When you have a mill with back gear you need reverce. Dave

Thanks Bob and Mark for your help (from someone who has read this whole thread + the manual and every other web page I can find) every thing is back working as it should. I also spoke with Peter Homann, top bloke to talk with, about my smoothstepper problems. He told me that everything had been done correctly and about the only other thing to try was grounding the spindle. Worked like a charm......so far . Several months ago I spoke here about a dry joint in the Hy VFD and using a hair dryer to get it started. The VFD was still under "Chinese Warranty" but that was about the time lovehappy shopping went to ground. I sent an email off to Hy in China and didn't get a response for over twelve months. To cut a long story short, they are supplying a new inverter at "cost" price and should be here within the next week. At least we know it is a genuine Hy inverter and it will be interesting to see how it performs.
Cheers all

New VFD
The replacement VFD arrived from Hy yesterday. Looks like everything is where it should be. I'll connect it up in the next couple of day and let you know how it runs. Anyone else have the potentiometer fitted as standard, nice improvement.

Well...........it may all be bright and shiny with its own knob but it it is still of dubious parentage. The manuals appear identical and I have the new VFD PD settings set up exactly the same as the old one and getting a couple of error messages. The first one is u-1.00 which says over voltage this is at start up, then the display flashes H00.00 which may mean overheating and on shut down Lu which is under voltage. The first error message and the last error message seem contradictory to me. Would anyone be able to shed some light on this for me please?
Regards
Kim

Hi Kim
I have found this page for HuanYang manuals
Are you sure that the displays you are getting are errors, or are they just operator information?

What do you mean you "found" that page? Ray Gardiner (RayG) put it up months ago to give everyone on this forum access to all our collections.... there are lots of references to that page in this thread....

Hi
Notice the age next to my icon. That explains the "found" all on its own. I can find things that I haven't even lost yet, every day.
Anyway, a quick search failed to find a link to these manuals. Where is it?
