Default PWM Integration to Huanyang VFD

I'm not sure anyone is interested in this but I made up a document which goes through the integration required to get PWM working from Mach3 to the VFD.

This is limited to Hunyang type VFD's.

The document looks at 2 types of devices:

    1. Geck G540
    2. Digispeed DC03

Feedback will be welcomed and if I feel it is viable I shall update the documentation accordingly.

For the future, I will be integrating the Mach 3 Plugin written by our one and only Mark
Hastings, which should conclude all viable options.

Note: This procedure was written for me and anyone reading and using this needs to keep in mind any variations imposed by their systems. Damage will be your problem, not mine.

I have also linked this to my website for an additional reference http://seafurymike.dyndns.org:2001//...=hf-spindles-2

Thanks for the kudos Mike but the genius who put the plugin together was Matty Zee.

    *** Bloody Brilliant****
I am eagerly awaiting houy next paper for the 'plug-in by Matty Zee.
I have both the dc-03 and the Rs232/245 unit, but am unsure which way to go. I have read a couple of posts which suggest that the dc-03 may not put out the full 10v.
I will wait for your paper one the MZ rs232 to compare, but if anyone has any thoughts on this matter, I would appreciate their input.
    Cheers

Well I received my RS485 unit today, so i'll download the plugin and start configuring.
I'm looking forward to getting this up and running as I think it will do exactly what I want and without peripheral equipment (+5Vdc supplies, etc).

    Noel,
I found the DC03 put out a full range between 0-10Vdc. As mentioned in my document, there was an issue with voltage leakage as zero was actually delivering above that which caused the spindle to rotate. I fixed this by using the PD values in the document.

On a better note, Chai has provided me with a good option to fix my VFD which is having huge issues in displaying legible numbers. So I hope to have my 2.2Kw VFD soon which will be running the GRF and I'll use the current unit to test setups like this and hopefully another spindle for the X4.

    /M

Hi Mike, Thanks for the info here. I've just received my 1.5kw aircooled spindle and hope to connect it to the G540. I'm not currently running a smoother stepper. Will your instruction for the G540 set-up still work? I've lots to learn.

    Brad,

The SS basically provides 2 parallel ports via USB. Interpret the manual as a normal parallel port as you woul see on the back of you PC.

The SS provides in addition clocking from the internal processor which allows for faster clock speeds to the stepper drivers, amongst other nifty features.

On the down side, they are prone to EMF and grounding on the machine needs to be tip top or it looses the plot, spits out its dummy and goes home with its bat and ball never to be seen again.

Yell out if you need clarification on setting things up. I'm sure we can help you through most things.

    /Michael

Cool. When the time comes to get the two talking to one another I yell out if I need a hand.

Excellent thread . Thanks for all the info. Got my Huanyang 1.5kw VFD and spindle working on the bench test first time round (well almost). Was a little stumped at first but then read further on and changed PD001 to 0 and away she went.

Once again, valuable information and very much appreciated.
I wouldn't have had a clue if I had a go based purely on the manual.

    Cheers and beers,
    Row.
