    Default Visit to Perth

    Hi All,

I was in Perth for a couple of days and had the pleasure to visit Rod and see his magnificent machines. They look great in the photos but you get a true appreciation of Rod's craftsmanship when you see these things up close. I met Rod P on the night as well and he is a really good bloke with a real talent for robotics.

My machine is from the same design genepool (i.e. Rod's evolving steel and AL design) and is about 4 years old now and it was good to see how that design had evolved. The latest LeBot machine is a beauty and is very professionally made - Rod has left no stone unturned in trying to achieve the best in form and function.

The star of the night for me was Morphy - it is huge compared to the photos and beautifully engineered. One thing I did notice was that the MDF spoil board which was attached to Morphy's bed was quite large and had quite a bit of work - the depth of the cuts/channels on that spoil board were extemely even - which in indicate the bed is very even and the gantry is very well set up.

Here are a couple of old photos of my machine - the similarity in design concept is there, but that's where it ends.

    Thanks again Rod, cheers, Jason

    Hi Jason,
Was great to finally meet up with you after all this time.
It is a couple of years since I have ventured east so about time I wandered to your part of the world - maybe this year.

Machine Blue with a sparkle good to see your machine again.

Funny thing is when I build a machine I can only see ways of doing it better next time.
    Cheers,
    Rod
