Water cooling pump sugestions
Hi All,
I have purchased a water cooled spindle and now am looking for a pump for the cooling fluid, I have searched but haven't found a lot. So what are people using for their cooling pumps these days
Regards
Warrick

Probably depends on how big the spindle is. For the 1.5kW spindle on my 6040 CNC, I changed the rather loud diaphragm pump for a much quieter submersible pond pump. The only tricky bit was that it needed to be 24V DC if I was to use the existing wiring - finding a cheap one on Ebay wasn't too hard, and it pushes the water through just fine.

Looks like it has a max 1.2m head which might mean mounting the tank a little higher than you want. Hard to tell as there isn't a spec sheet so be a little wary with that one.
I have a computer cooling system you are welcome to - radiator with fan and a 12v ceramic pump.Cheers,
Rod

I got this one:
JP 65 Submersible Water Fountain Pump 1200L H Water Feature Pump Aquarium Marine | eBay
2m head but it is 240V. Currently awaiting some fittings to install (pump outlet is 16mm, spindle hose is 8mm)Geoff

Well my spindle has arrived today complete with collets, I didn't read the ad closely enough, it did say the following in the spindle specs
Collet: ER20(4mm,6mm,8mm,12mm,12.7mm) Runout off: less than 0.005mm
which I took as the sizes of bits you could use not the included collets. I then ordered metric and imperial sets from CTC. Not to worry, i will have a few spares.
Rod,
If that cooling system is still available I would love to take it off your hands and put it too good use.

Consider a DC2.2 12V watercooling pump. $40 from PLE computers. PLE Computers Pty Ltd
If you want more flow (not proven at all necessary with these low heat output spindles) there are bigger models.
Probably more reliable than most ebay gambles.
