Default Whiteside vs Amanatool vs Chinese CNC/Router bits

I wondered if anyone has any info, experience or comments on the various CNC router bits available. In particular, ‘premium’ yank bits like whiteside and Amanatool’s Spektra, vs cheap Chinese bits.

I’ve got a few Whiteside router bits and they are superb. I’ve only bought Amanatool saw blades, and again, they’re excellent. I’ve also got some Chinese bits from Adams bits - they haven’t had much use, but they did the job.

Do the flashy coatings do anything? Amanatool have spektra, and Bits & Bits have their own Astra coating for whiteside bits. Both claim extended life, less resin buildup and a cure for cancer.

A boxful of cheap Chinese bits makes sense, particularly while I learn to drive the CNC, but I’m feeling a little anti supporting that economy at the moment - while they play bully-boy with our fishermen/farmers and plonk producers.

"Flashy coatings" can contribute to lowering the friction, but where the quality brands shine is in the composition and grinding of the carbide inserts. Sharp, smooth edges ground on a skew give a superb finish usually needing no sanding afterwards.

Personally I default to CMT, Freud and Trend where possible but will dip into Diablo, Carbitool and Linbide if I need it right now. I have no experience of Whiteside but can't recall anyone being disappointed.

Edit: Dang; having re-read the post you are referring to CNC bits only. My comments are regarding use with hand held/table mounted routers only so can be disregarded.

I suspect that if they make good router bits, they’ll do good CNC too, so happy to hear about both. I still use the router

Carbitool all the way. Ran them almost exclusively on the work CNC aside from some massive solid carbide spirals from Leuco.

They're also made here in Melbourne, so you'll be supporting local industry.
