Hey Willy,
Sorry to hear about your challenges. A few years ago I was an executor on my Mothers Will and it was not fun, so without a will I feel for you.
As to the mill, I agree don't give it away. I'm converting my TM20VL mill and it is a lot of work. As to it's worth It's hard, but assuming the mill is in good condition, I'd start with;
- the full retail price of the conversion kit,
- 80% of the mill cost, (minus % for wear and tear)
- throw in the PC,
- 75% of the major controller components.
The above is really thinking out aloud but see what it comes to. If it seems way off then adjust.
Also if you want, I could add a 2nd hand machine section to my site, and we could put it in there. If someone is interested I could pass them on to you.
Cheers,

Hi Sean
Sorry to hear about your mother and you have not given us enough indication as to whether you are happy about the discovery of the extended family or not.
And in the wallet. Where there be lawyers, there also be pain of one sort or another.
The X3? You can't sell the X3. You just polished its balls.
You say "and tooling". I thought you only had one cutter?
Seriously though. The current X3 is (supposedly) on sale at H&F for about $2K inc. You spent another $1K on kits, PSU, Gecko, Stand etc. If we value all the work you put in and all the time you spent on it at $0 then it is worth about $3K. With the work (but not paying you very much per hour) then I think that you could say closer to $4.5K. However, you won't get anything like that for it. Probably close to the $3K mark. Having said that, I would start by asking for $5K and then go down from there as you become increasingly desperate to sell it.
So long as that postalicalness was aimed at the LNP, I am prepared to taunt you non-stop. Maybe you can turn the laser into a portable machine and visit LNP party headquarters when Newman is there and show him what sort of cutting the laser can do unprotected flesh.Bob Willson
