    Default X3 out of Hibernation.

How long has it been well its been a bloody long time but looking through the threads doesn't seem much has changed Rods still building and bob is still doing what he does .

Rod, Bob, hope you have been keeping well been quite a busy man work kids yep kids two of them and thus the X3 has been sitting in the shed in hibernation anyway with the family away this weekend I decided to pull the covers off and see if the X3 still works my son keeps asking what it is guess its time for him to see.

It only took me an hour to remember how to put it all together had to do some soldering etc then I plugged it into the old dell and opened Mach3 turned it on the G540 R1 lol hissed and all axis's moved.

Still needs a lot of work though.

Link to old thread apparently its out of date lol https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...=123423&page=2

Pick of the Kids the girl is a bit older about 9 months now cooper is nearly 4 and yep a pigeon pair no more kids for us that's for sure the wife has a Daughter to take shopping and I have a Son to take to H&F and the Tip .

    WillyInBris,
Welcome back and congrats to you and A on the new arrival. I can't believe Cooper is four now.
I have had a break for a while but getting back to finish a machine that I stopped working on two years ago.
Look forward to seeing some work come out of the monster garage.
    Cheers,
    Rod

    Hi Sean

Good to hear from you again.

Away for three years and you have been busy? Come on, you were in prison weren't you, that is why you didn't couldn't talk to us for such a long time?

I can understand how you could steal a shed that large, but I cannot understand how you can hide it.

Welcome back to the land of the whatever ...

What happened to the laser cutter you were working on as well?

Angela has a baby to spend money on? Oh Sean.

Hi Bob everything for the Laser is sitting in the corner of the shed I presume the actual tube is probably stuffed will find out soon enough though that will be my next job on the list.

First is first though get something cut on the mill not far away just waiting on some limit switches but will probably run without them.

Rod you would probably be the person to ask what speeds/depth did you machine ALU with on the X3 thinking of using a 3mm bit.

The X3 has a slow spindle speed compared to a router so for a 3mm bit I would start at 0.1mm DOC and around 400mm/m. Ramp it up if it cuts OK but be prepared to snap a few bits if you are using solid carbide cutters. Ally is quite variable so if your ally looks a light grey then chances are it will be gummy.
    Cheers,
    Rod

    Hi Big Willy

So this is the week eh?

Hopefully you had a little bit of time this weekend Sean.

Have you got proper power yet?

Or, even more important, have you got the hammock and fridge yet?

Happy birthday Sean. Hence the large number of reds eh? Start planning now for your retirement. It isn't as far off as you may think. Oh, hang on, our wonderful Liberal/National government is going to raise the retirement age isn't it!

ps Wine does NOT give you flu. If it did, I would be permanently bed-ridden.

pps Idea. ... Why not lash out and buy another bit ... just in case?

Hey guys back for a short bit but due to a bit of a family tragedy a few months ago and my mother not leaving us with a will and finding out I have an extended family i had no idea about grrrr I have decided it best to sell off some stuff maybe in a few years i will be back but solicitors fees are starting to chew into our finances bit of a bugger but sometimes you just have to man up and take it on the chin.

Funny the curve balls life throws at you when you think everything is sorted.

Anyway question what do you think the X3 is worth including controller crappy pc sill working though and tooling I guess its what a person will pay but being out of everything so long I really have no idea and am not going to give it away.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Willy

Bob don't even start me on the LNP either otherwise i could go postal.
