    Default Calling all lathe-masters!

    Happy New Year!

I'm determined to restore a squatters chair I "rescued".

The one thing I certainly can't do is any turning - one of the armrest uprights is missing. I don't have a lathe. I have the second armrest upright to use as a template.

Anyone interested in turning a piece of my timber for me?

Happy to pay, in cash, beer, possibly timber.

    Cheers,
    Gordon

Gordon, it might be worthwhile dropping into your local Men's Shed.

Thanks Steve, I'm missing something - in plain English you mean...?

I'm guessing you're either telling me in a somewhat roundabout way to "go forth and mulitply", or your are telling me to contact Home | Men's Sheds Australia | Support | Community | Health

I thought I had used plain English.
What I meant was that if you call into your local Men's Shed, someone there could possibly turn the piece for you.

You can find your nearest Men's Shed using this link: Shed Locator | Men's Sheds Australia | Support | Community | Health

Otherwise, if I were you I'd post the same question in the Woodturning section. You're more likely to get a result.

Edit: I definitely didn't mean 'go forth and multiply'. I'd have a go at it myself if I were closer.

    gbossley;

You can do a Work In Progress (WIP) of the restoration of the chair. If you get stuck on something people on the forum might be able to offer advice. We also love watching what people make gives us a sense of being there.

    Default Wip

OK as suggested, here are the pics... The third one along is the armrest support - the second one is missing so I need one created.

Clever ideas about obtaining some colourful, appropriate canvas?

Oh, and the headrest - as per the second shot, the dowels are (sort of) in place - I guess (limited tools) I could remove the dowels and drill and screw a new section in place.
