Default Maintaining and restoration a 10 year old veneer kitchen

    Hello,

I'm not sure if this is in the right section its my first post!

I recently purchased a house where the veneer (jarrah) in the kitchen is faiding from minor water damage and some of the smaller strips of veneer are lifting or lifted off. Firstly what is the best way to try and stop the faiding if not reverse it. Secondly where can I find some 19-20mm jarrah veneer in WA, i'm presuming bunnings have a limited range and may need to go to a more specialist shop?

When re-applying the veneer is there an issue with the old glue or can i just place the new veneer on it and heat it with an iron?

I am a novice DIY, but am learning quickly. Tips & tricks very much appreciated.

    Daniel

Welcome to the woodworkforums. I'm surprised you've had to wait a month for a reply...

First and foremost, you're going to need some photos so people know what you are talking about to then provide specific advice.
Sight unseen, I suspect you wont find suitable materials at bunnings. A yellow pages search in your area for "Cabinet Makers' Supplies" and "Plywoods & Veneers" may be useful once the repair suggestions start rolling in.

    Good luck,
    Mick
