Question restoring a rusty old baby scales?

    Hi

I've got an old baby scales that had been left outside for a while and has been rusting away. I plan on using Rustbuster to remove the rust. The white area is only painted so I'll give it a fresh coat of paint. The scales will be only for display, not for weighing. I don't want to use anything harsh on the rust because the numbers are etched on. Any suggestions as to how I should approach this? I've never done anything like this before

    thanks in advance

Electrolysis bath. Read this article and see the pictures on major panics website, Go Here go to tools/handplane restoration. go to the 2nd page or watch the slide show. you don't need any expensive equipment. I use a cheap battery charger from Bunnings costing about $15 from memory. The rest of the process is explained on the website. You would need to have a container large enough but that shouldn't be a problem.
The results are excellent.Good luck. Others may have some other ideas.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John
