    Default Roll top desk restoration

    Hi all
ive almost completed restoration of a USA made pre-war (1940s) roll top desk. I’ve located a new half mortise dovetail lock (for the door) key and wooden escutcheon and a replacement key for the tambour lock from a USA supplier but they don’t ship internationally.
Does anyone know of an Australian or NZ supplier of these items.
    Thanks
    Sheddie

Try Jacksons over in Tassie; if they don’t supply what you want I reckon they’d know who would. Also maybe Anton Gerner?

    Thanks Chief.
    Update
after many phone calls I ended up in London. With any luck I’ll get an uninfected one sent to me..one day!
No one here seemed to know what a dovetailed half mortise lock was.

Thanx Robert I Rang them but hadn’t heard of the type of lock I wanted. The guy put me on to A&E Squire in the UK. They couldn’t help. I sent a bunch of pics but they’d never seen the like before. In desperation I tried Amazon.com.au (which I loathe) and a shop in New Mexico had 1 in stock. The lock was $A11.00 but incl freight the total was $US38.00.

as can be seen the design of the lock makes attaching with nails or screws unnecessary.
