    Default Sideboard Starkey and Christoe

We've had this one over a year and I wasn't planning to touch it until I mastered stripping veneers. Well it was time and I learnt it was not a veneer. It was an ugly brown duckling to me. After a lot of sanding with many discs of 240 I finally got the outside cleaned. The following photo's are as it was before I touched it.

Needed to replace some screws before getting to lock up stage. The long hinges for the top were off and rusty when I got it so that is another area to clean. Finally got a records player installed. I suspect the drawers were for holding things like table cloths. Below the record player is a shelf I assume for storage of records. What is the small side compartment for? I did make a small scratch when putting doors back on but it was so easily hidden with application of the Danish oil. I have left the handles as I feel they would be too hard to ensure what is underneath and whether I could clean them enough. I still have to really clean inside and the record player before trying to use. It will be interesting when it's complete to see if my wife allows it in the house or it has to be sold.
