Thread: White cabinet top recovery back to silky oak for book shelves

Hi,
Saw the leadlight work and even though the glass was broken in multiple places and the leadlight is finer than any I have handled so far I picked this up for $10.
The initial plan was to recover the leadlight for another project another day.
The reward was to find the shelves had interesting wood below the blue paint (sorry forgot photos).
Decided to go a step further and find out if the door could be silky oak.
Found the doors and main carcass were nice silky oak. Took a lot of scraping and the lots of sand paper on the ROS. Happily using dust extractor on the sander in case the paints were a hazard.

Have yet to determine if the plywood back is adequate for the long hall but I think the internals will highlight the shelves, leadlight and silky oak so it will stay.
I'm looking to recycle this into book case extending on other silky oak book cases (usually 1-1.2m tall).
I guess this will be another long time projects where I have to hunt down matching glass and then hopefully have the equipment and skill for the leadlight work.

I would appreciate anything anyone can tell me about this sort of leadlight work or even the colours and patterns.
