Wind up gramaphone with silky oak cabinet
Looking for advice from people experienced with these.
When I got this someone had started stripping it.
Top was sanded, wood for hinge at back was removed, hinge and bracket were removed, and it wasn't working.
I have reinstalled the wood, hinge and support bracket.
Took some tries but re-stained the top to match.
Mechanically I have it working nicely again which was the reason to buy it.
Lots of 78's to play and then move on.
My plan would be to wipe down, clean with sunlight soap and then wax.
Is there something else I should do?
Should I not wax the speaker area?
Thank you and appreciate any advice.

I would expect a grill of some kind over the speaker horn.
Vertical bars with cloth behind. Especially since three doesn't seem to be doors over it.

Thanks, that makes a lot more sense than being open to the element. I'll cut some silky oak bars and work out the material.
