1/27 toy mining truck
I made a wooden mining truck scaled roughly 1/27. The back wheels are a bit wider than a lowloader in the same scale. Since this is a prototype I will adjust a few things on next versions. The loading bucket will be wider so it will be wider than the back wheels and the angle of the front wheel arches will be the same as the front of the bucket. But the cabin bothers me, somehow it does not feel right. Maybe it should be lower? Any suggestions are welcome.

One tough looking mining truck, that will take everything a child throws at it.

Hi Pogo, one thing constant on dump trucks is the cab size, as a truck gets bigger the cab scale diminishes. Therefore your model looks like a fairly small truck. I think the back of your cab should be angled to the same profile as the front of the body and probably lowered a bit which will make your truck look bigger.
Cheers,
Geoff.

I think your tray is too tall and a bit far back from the cab area. As Boringgeoff says, the cab should be smaller.
Below are a couple of photos of the real thing if that helps.

It looks good Glenn!
I’d only add a few simple things to detail it!
Slight Hump Over The Engine Area, Air Filter, Exhaust Stack, Hand Rail, Radiator, Headlights.
Cheers Peter
PS I did a CAT Dump Truck a couple of years back.

Thanks for your suggestions. After some searching I found a smaller mining truck which will fit a trailer if it is scaled to the same scale as the truck it will fit on. That will be easier to work from, will show when done.
