Hi All,
I hope everyone has had a good and safe Easter.
I have been working on the cab of the loco. I have made up the front windows (frames and 3mm glass) and inserted in the front of the cabin. Now making the side windows. I put the slot in the frame with my table saw. Cut my glass to size and the mitre each end, insert the glass and then glue up the window.
The rail along the top of the boiler is 4mm mild steel. The end ferrules of the rail are turned out of 6.3mm aluminium.
I still have a fair bit of detail work to do along the loco sides (Grease and oilers for all the moving bearings etc)
Enjoy the rest of Easter.

Hi All,
Continuing work on the cabin of the locomotive.
I have made it removable at this stage so I will be able to continue on the engineer controls inside the cabin.
The windows and frames have now been made with 2mm glass.

These are a slide fit in the cabin window openings so I can remove them easily for frame painting at a later date.
I have made bow trusses to enable easy placement of the curved roof. I will be steaming the MDF roof to get correct curvature.
The interior roof of the loco is panelling lined. The timber trusses will allow me to do the panelling quite readily (I hope)
The locomotive as it is at the moment is 1.3 metres in length. When tender is added (further down the track) - it will have an overall length of 2.3 metres.

Keep Safe

I see the erecting shop did not close for Easter.
I thought you were going to say the locomotive was 1.5 M for social distancing, but with the tender you will be far enough apart. When you start thinking about it, it is (like most of your models) big. Just need a ruler or beer can for scale.
Keep up the good work.

The loco actually looks a bigger scale to previous ones you've built Keith,
or have you shrunk with the isolation?
Cheers, Peter

Peter
Trevor always said that I was short
This loco is 1/6th scale. Rocket was 1/6th scale. Stirling Single was 1/7th scale. D4 Tank loco was 1/7th scale. A good pickup by you
I am handling the lockdown OK (thanks to the loco build). Cathie is struggling a bit.
Take Care and Keep Safe

Keith
