Thanks for the suggestion Derek and thanks for the info Peter.

I think it is a bit too similar to the Lion That I built quite a few years ago (see my build below)

I have put the Ballaarat in my (For Consideration) basket for the future. I will try and accumulate details and info for a future build.

    Many thanks

    Hi Derek,

Thankyou for the detailed page on Shays. I have purchased a book from the States on Shays as well, but it is difficult to get a lot of detailed information - particularly on the gearing.
My next build is going the compliment my collection of locomotives I have built.
I started with the first locomotive - Trevethick's Peny Darren, Stephenson's Rocket, LMR Lion, Stirling Single, American - Thatcher-Perkins, Victorian Railways 4-6-2 Tank Locomotive and the Pannier Tank locomotive. The only locomotive missing is a diesel. So that's it. It is a V Line (Victorian Railways) Y Class Diesel locomotive. My old mate Trev (Repliconics) wouldn't be impressed as he called them "Bricks on Wheels". However, I think I can add enough detail to do justice to this locomotive to add to my collection. I am looking forward to the build.

    Hi All,

With the base now finished, that completes my 1890 Melbourne tram. I would like to thank everyone who has commented and supplied references and information regarding tramways. Crowie thanks for the photos you supplied of the trams you were travelling in whilst overseas.
I have enjoyed this build very much. Something a bit different.

Tram looks fantastic now complete Mate. At least the base must have been easier to make with not so many parts but still effective and completes the build

I can just remember Him saying that about the diesels and laughing at him for that remark still sadly missed on here by many
