Nice job Keith but do I really need to say that as many on here would agree about your workmanship.

Have you thought of airbrush translucent paints for that stained glass look not sure if it will work as I have not tried it myself.

    Hi All,

Had a bit of trouble finding any information on the overhead gear for the Melbourne tram. I did however find some detail on old USA trams.

I machined up my components out of solid aluminium bar in my milling machine and also on my metal lathe.

I have made it so it can rotate depending on which direction the tram is travelling. The assembly is locked in position by a locking handle.

The pole is be raised by the springs. The pole can be held in the lowered position.

My next step is to work on the interior of the tram.

    Regards

    Keith

    Hi All,

Been working on the interior of the tram. Polished wooden floorboards. The seating was not very luxurious in the 1890's. I googled "1890's Victorian advertisements" and got a sign for Starch and also an advertisement for Electricity. Printed these out and laminated and now a part of the tram. The roof will now go on permanently. Not much more to go before the base for the tram and then onto my next project.

Can't help but see the irony of the electricity sign ........

    Hi All,

Nearly finished. Still have to make the base for the tram.
The mesh gates were made out of cut up icy pole sticks (they were the perfect thickness) cut to width on my scroll saw.
Happy how my signs "Melbourne Trams" and "125" came up.
This has been an enjoyable build.
Probably another week's work till I finish.
Cathie took a photo of me with the tram to give a size indication. The tram is 1/6th scale.

Extremely well done you should be justifiably proud.
