Beaut Stuff Trev,
You are so good on cylinders, I reckon you should have a go at an aeroplane radial engine (and plane) for a future build.

Thanks mate although I maybe getting a little carried away (see picture below)!.
I've always had a thing for the Sopwith Triplane.
At 2/3 scale the wingspan would only be 5.3 metres and the fuselage 3.8 "Not" to big in my book!.
Thanks Guy's.
Since one of the sparkplugs has to be refinished I thought I'd have a go at writing the Splitdorf brand name on it.
My son said he know there was some really small detail about to be added to the engine the minute he saw the old man with my glasses on!.
That's officially as small as I can write anything.
I used a 0.2mm fine liner under a magnifier.
I think it looks about right but I prepared to take opinions on it.
Considering how small the writing is I was surprised at how much it stands out on the plug when its mounted on the engine.
I'm more than happy with the colours I've got on the plugs, but the metallic finish has got to go!.
The colours need to be solid not so much of a "Mardi Gras"!.
Cheers
Trev.

A bit of a frustrating day trying to track down the right paint for the sparkplugs.
So I turned my attention to the Magneto instead.
I put the Magneto back in place for a couple of pictures before I pulled it apart.
As far as I know the setup on the 1920 Harley JS was a Remy type 235.
I wish now I had gotten more detail from the original I had my hands on at the time.
You can see on the back of the Coil there's a rather kool looking dude.
His a little larger than he should be because I made a mould of him from the real deal so his 1/1 scale.
He should be blended into the plate and not just sitting on top as he is.
And the cover on the rear of the Generator really needs to look a lot more believable.
Still I think I managed to get some good detail into the Magneto when I first built it.
But the paint jobs a shocker!.
I've stripped the Magneto down and got started on the Coil.
I removed all of the old paint and blended the logo (aka Kool Dude) into the back.
As well as a coat of primer I managed to get the main body into satin black.
Tomorrow I've give the ends a spray with nickel.
Cheers

Trev, A first I was thinking,
"How did he get that done so quick"??
Then the penny dropped..... .....

Hi Trev,
The plastic scale model fraternity use a product called Alclad, it's a paint that is usually applied over a coat of gloss black which, when dry, is buffed with a soft cloth and looks for all the World like plating! It comes in 'colours' all the way from pure shiny gold, silver and brass to exhaust stained steel!
i have seen it in Hobbyco in Sydney but it would also be available on line?

Thanks guy's I just had a bit of a look at the link, it sure seems like the go!.
I think I could really lift the sparkplugs with that product.
Let alone all the other parts I could use it on!.
Like I say you gotta luv this forum (If you need a hand or some advice it's always freely offered).
"BRILLIANT"
Thanks Again.

I've cut the back off the Generator which would've been a cover cap.
When I first made the part I only painted it silver and it had no detail to show that it was a separate piece.
I'll fix that now!.
I've also repaired some cracks and damage that was in the main body of the Generator and painted it.
After the paint had fully dried on the Coil there was a couple of really annoying dust spots in the black.
So I've given it a like sand and I'll put another coat on it.
Cheers
Trev.
