Trevor, I didn't post the last reply; it must have been that teacher alter-ego coming out since school is nearly back in.
After all, where was the emoticon calling card as proof it was me?
Sorry to hear about your leg troubles. And right after I suggested Scamander was good for yer!!!

The cylinders are painted and I've started work on the crankcase.
I found a good but very low res drawing of the crankcase on the net.
It's proved very handy though.

There's enough detail that I can see a way to laminate panels of timber together to form the case.
I've drawn up the first of the panels and cut it out.

I put it in the vise (Yes I went and bought one) with the cylinders sitting on top to check that the scale was looking right.
I'm happy with it so far, but we'll see how it goes as more panels are fitted in place.
Cheers

Thanks for that mate and I reckon your right.
So far the idea of cutting panels or laminations to form the crankcase has gone really well.

I've used 20mm pine with 6 and 4mm ply to get the basic shape I'm after.
It's all looking pretty rough but from what's there I think it will come up all right.
I still need to make the flange that goes around the centre of the case to make it look as if it can be taken apart.
As you can see from the cylinder on the left I've been sanding, both the cylinders will get two or three more coats before their finished.
Cheers

More work done on the crankcase today.
Although I must say I've found that when the Tassie weathers not the best, neither is my open plan airy workshop!.
Still even Paradise must have rain sometimes.

I gave my Dremel Moto-Saw a good workout today and cut a recess into the middle of the case.
It will allow me to bolt the cylinders down from inside the case.
The hole wont be seen when the timing cover is in place.

I also got the flange made that goes around the centre of the crankcase.
It's coming up pretty well but needs a lot of cleaning up and shaping before it's finished.

I spent the day shaping and adding detail to the front of the crankcase.
IMG_8696.jpg IMG_8698.jpg IMG_8699.jpg
As the individual pieces are blended together the over all look of the part becomes "Hopefully" more believable.
There's still a couple of pieces that need to be added including the JAP at the bottom of the case.
That one shouldn't be to hard but the "TOTTENHAM LONDON" that goes around the base of the rear section of the case will be a nightmare.
Hope everyone had a great OZZIE DAY!.
Cheers
