    Not at this stage Peter.
It gets pretty cold out there at around 4 in the morning.
For both me and the bodyfiller!.
Still mind you I'm not complaining it's not like the good old days in Mildura.
Out under the carport freezing cold trying to get some work done and not wake the neighbours.
While all the time condensation is falling on the Indian as I'm building it!.
It could get to minus 10 out in the shed at the moment and I'd still say it's a big step-up!.

I was working on the chain guard out there this morning.
Got lots done and didn't need to worry about the neighbours.
I just needed the occasional trip inside to warm-up both me and the Bodyfiller.

I've put a fair bit of time into shaping the guard.

    IMG_9839.jpg IMG_9843.jpg IMG_9845.JPG

The guard may look a little off centre in the photo's.
That's because it's just sitting on the chain at the moment and keeps wonting to slide down it.
Funny thing with the Brough the chain guard is mounted to the frame.
Not the engine so at the moment there's nowhere for it to be held.
I'll make some temporary brackets for it tomorrow.

    Cheers
    Trev.

It's coming up a treat Trev,

Top class work as always. The chain in position also adds that something extra.

    The guard looks great Trev.

Have you thought of making a smaller room inside the shed either a stud type wall or even a plastic sheet then heat that section to do the smaller work in this will raise the temperature by a few degrees just enough to be comfortable in.

Thanks Charles that's very much appreciated mate.
I'd say most consider me to be a Modelmaker.
But when I'm trying to be all artsy and posh I call what I do sculptural mechanics or just "bloody good fun".
    Thanks again.

I'm afraid so Charlie Boy not only have you caught me out but Derek's gone and spotted the other one nearby.
We wont mention the one that's being used to hold the Magneto to the Timing Case.
In my defence I've always said my work is made from recycled materials and things you find around the house and of cause good old rubbish.
So PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS = RUBBISH!.
I'm also taking a whole lot of solace from Dallas and Peter's spin on the debacle!.
But as it is I'll be having humble pie for lunch!.

    Cheers mate

I'm just waiting for sunrise so I can drive into Hobart and pick the Indian up from the exhibition.
Meanwhile I've been out in the shed stripping the engine down to work on the pushrods and rockers.

But before that I made one last modification to the chain guard.
Because I use a bicycle chain the scale is way off in regards to a real motorcycle chain.
The chain I'm using would struggle to be half scale of the real deal.
To try and hide the fact that it's so out of whack I've made the chain guard a lot thinner that it was.

    IMG_9846.JPG IMG_9851.JPG IMG_9853.JPG

It's just one of the ongoing Duck Fudges to try and get the end result to look as if it is realistic.
After the frames made I may even need to shorten the guard a little.
It all depends on how close I've got to having the gearbox in the right place at the moment.
We'll just have to see how that one goes.

    Cheers
    Trev.

I striped the engine back down to drill holes in the crankcase for the two pushrods on the right cylinder.

    IMG_9861.jpg IMG_9871.jpg

The pushrod guides are made from bits of texta's and pens.

    IMG_9870.jpg IMG_9868.jpg

I found some fencing wire and made the first of the four valve springs.
I've used more texta and pen bits as well as some plywood and MDF to make the rocker.

Pretty happy with the way it looks.

    IMG_9864.jpg

I'll get the setup right for this inlet valve before starting the other three.

    Cheers

    Trev,
Just a late night stupid idea.
Have you ever thought of doing cut away views.
Just to make a ton more work for you.
I remember has a kid I used to love the cut away views of engineering pics in car magazines.

    Matt

A man after my own heart.

When I was young my parents took me to the Melbourne Museum.
It's without doubt one of the strongest memory's I have of my childhood.
For a kid from the bush that place left me in wonder!.

I was spellbound by the engineered cutaway models they had on display.
For so long after all I wonted to do was to grow up to work in that Museum.
    Restoring things and building models.

Ah the dreams of a child!.

Somewhere along the way I may well build a cutaway model.
If for no other reason than to pay homage to that marvels place I remember so well.

    Cheers mate
    Trev.
