I got in the shed nice and early this morning to get started on the clutch lever.

    IMG_5673.jpg IMG_5675.jpg

I cleaned the plaster off the dowel and used some of it to make the shaft.
The locking nut is brass with a piece of MDF glued to it to get the right thickness.
The lever itself is an offcut of KD from who knows where.
I sketched the rough outline of the shape of the lever onto it and cut it down as much as I could with the bandsaw.
After that it was all worked into shape with some files and sandpaper.

The good old coke can shows the scale pretty well.
I'm fairly happy with the way it's coming along but I can see where some improvements can be made.

Just for laughs here's my high-tech plans I draw up to help with the parts to detail the gearbox.
    All measurements are included!.

    Cheers

I reworked a few of the parts I'd made for the gearbox to improve their finish.
Then started looking around for bits and pieces to add detail.

    IMG_5782.jpg IMG_5784.jpg IMG_5785.jpg

I nicked some parts off an old bike that's laying around the shed.
One thing I really like is the screw cap (bottom right of the gearbox).
It's been modified with filler but it started out as a nut from a saw handle.

With a little luck the fiberglass I ordered will get here tomorrow and I can start back on the petrol tank.

    Cheers

I've spent the last few days fiberglassing the tank of the Brough.
In the end I've put four layers of glass on it.
Maybe a little overkill by it gives me a ton of material to work with while resurfacing it.
The only small hiccup I've had is the glass lifted a little at the back of tank due to the tight turn.
But I can fix that while I'm shaping the tank.

I've added some more detail to the engine as well.
The tube that's on top of the crankcase between the cylinders, I'd be guessing is a value lifter.
I'm not to sure but I'll find out as the build goes along.
Also the carbies been shortened to have the right clearance under the tank and a few bits and pieces have been added to it.

Now it's a matter of shaping the tank, that should keep me out of trouble for awhile.

    Cheers
    Trev.

The marbling affect came about because I've given the tank a rough sand with 80 grit.
It's stylish but wont last long.

One of them you learn it as you need it, I'm thinking.
At least it works in my case some times. LOL

Been building my models with just wood but am finding this using what materials that come to mind and will work very interesting, may have to give it a try.
Would make some things I don't like making much easier.

It would be really interesting to see the materials and techniques you would use!.

Great job on the dust doohickie mate.
    Very nice piece of carpentry!.

I use a simpler version myself it's known as "Gale Force".
Wait for a bloody windy day and open all the doors and windows.

Fair to say the system doesn't work very well, but its cost effective and low maintenance.

I forgot to mention I also use a leaf blower to sweep out the shop, just have to be sure the winds blowing the right way the neighbors new car doesn't like saw dust.
Now back to the regularly scheduled program, I would call it a soap opera but it's more of a cycle story me thinks.
