    Thanks for jumping in fletty.
The Matchless engine used by Brough was the BSX2.
102 of them where fitting into the Brough's and around another 60 or so where used by Morgan.
As you'd know the Morgan's where the same by the detail of their appearance is different as they where water jacketed.

In the brilliant book you gave me a loan of there is no reference drawings to the Matchless engine.
    Tons of the J.A.P's though.
I'm thinking the problem were up against is that the Matchless was specifically made for Brough.
Then with the war starting so after the production run it all came to a screaming halt!.

I've spent "I don't wont to know" how many hours searching online to find photos of the engine's detail.
Pretty much googled myself stupid over it!.

Still where there's a will, and that's not lacking at this stage!.

    Cheers
    Trev.

With progress being held up on the 1938 I'll move to plan B.
Or in this case more plan KTOR!.

I'm enjoying being back building so much that instead of just waiting for more detailed information on the 38 I've started on an earlier motor.
In the end it may not even get finished but it will keep me busy in the meantime.

When I was drawing up the Blueprints of J.A.P engines awhile ago I thorough it would be great to have a Model of one of them.
So I'm putting together a 2/3 scale 1924 KTOR V Twin, and the great thing is I can scale the blueprints to 2/3 as well.

    KTOR.jpg

I started on the barrel's yesterday and with a little luck I should have one of them together by the end of the day.
That's unless I go out somewhere with it being New Year and all.

Have a great day folks and all the best in the new year!.

    Cheers
    Trev.

Looking good. Thought you might just start on the wheels or frame of the brough whike you await further detail on the motor.

If I build the frame first then I need to make an engine that fits it.
It's much easier to build the frame around the engine.
Like I did with the Indian.
I don't know the wheel's I'll be using until I've made the frame.

    It's all a catch 22 mate.

    Cheers

    Hi Trev,

Happy New Year to you and Tayne.

I see you have the internals of the motor as well - Are you going to do a cross section with pistons, rings etc - that would look stupendous as it won't have to fit into a bike.

Day one of 2016 is pretty much in the books, and it's been very productive in regards to plan B.
I've gotten the first of the barrels for the KTOR put together primer filled and sanded.
I was surprised how quickly I got it done, maybe it's all the practice I've had at building barrels lately!.

This is it after being glued up.
Material wise it's my three favourite things: MDF, PVC and Bodyfiller (Something's never change).

    IMG_8294.jpg IMG_8295.jpg IMG_8296.jpg

The primers a little thin in places after being sanded, but it will get a coat of surface primer soon.

    IMG_8300.jpg IMG_8301.jpg

Here's a comparison photo of the J.A.P KTOR barrel on the left and Matchless BSX2 on the right.

    IMG_8305.jpg

I've got all of the pieces I need to assemble the second barrel, but I think I'll have a go at making the head for this one.
The cylinder head looks very interesting and should be fun to make.

Day one down on a new year and it was a good one!.

    Cheers
    Trev.

The New Years Eve hangover has waned, lve been to my little sisters place at Katoomba, said HI to fence furniture on the way, got home in time to join a street gathering to say bon voyage to a family going on a holiday but decided I haven't done enough for the day so I thought I'd do some research. In the pic below.....

    ..... Terry's SS100 engine is stamped BSX2 1067!

l think I'll go back to the party now?

Not a ton got done today but I've rough cut the six fins that make up the base the cylinder head.
Everything needs work but the general arrangement is looking pretty good.

    IMG_8360.jpg IMG_8361.jpg IMG_8363.jpg

The side of the head that looks like there's a large piece missing is where the manifold inlet will be.
Tomorrow will be a day of tapering and shaping the fins.

    Cheers

More good progress today I've gotten the fins all shaped that make up the base of the head.
I even found some pipe that will do just nicely for the inlet and the exhaust.

    IMG_8364.jpg IMG_8366.jpg IMG_8367.jpg
    IMG_8368.jpg IMG_8371.jpg

Tomorrow will be the fun I'll have to recess the head though the fins to mount the pipes.
This is the part where very bad things can sometimes happen.
Still I've made a pattern to make the other head from, so if it all goes pear-shaped I can just make another one.

While I was loading the pictures I just realized I don't have a vise to hold the head while I drill it.
    Tomorrow just got more interesting!.

    Cheers

    It's looking good Trev,

I'm sure you will make up a really good fixture to hold the heads in place

I've got a book of "Worst Dad Jokes" that I will bring up to Dave's GTG for you to give Dave some extra "One Liner's".

    Regards

For the love of all that's good in the world "DON'T"
The last thing any of us need is a long weekend with Dave armed with more out of date Jokes!.

Honestly there's only so many reasons as to why a chicken would cross a road.
Also someone needs to point out to Dave that just because it breaks wind half way across it doesn't add to the punch line.

Leave the book at home Charlie!

    Cheers
    Trev.
