More the merrier. Can't wait till this time next week. Hope we get a few. A couple of others can't make it. Will have to update the list.

Could be coming over your way Monday. I've been asked to go to Renmark on Monday as part of a strike team with the NSW Rural Fire Service

Its not some sort of Stanley Steamer or the like is it.

As far as the Indian build is concerned I presume this whole post will be saved in the 'Best of' archives - brilliant.

The Stanley Steamer didn't have spark plugs, afaik.
I think it must be a similar age though.

Seconded - if anything deserves to be in the 'best of the best', this does.

It's a pretty dramatic change, but I like it.

    IMG_1542.jpg IMG_1554.jpg

The black Gear Cover was on a lot of the early Indian Straight Four's.
They were first none as the Indian-Ace around 1927.
    I think it's a really strong look!

    IMG_1551.jpg

Apart from the Gear Cover the other things I did today were to recoat the chrome
on the rocker box's and the carburettor.

    IMG_1558.jpg IMG_1548.jpg

Tomorrow I'll detail across the top of the engine, lots of little nuts and bolts.

    IMG_1546.jpg

A couple more days and the engines done.
I'm already working on scaling the frame.

    Cheers.

    Almost there on the engine.
Today was spent detailing across the top.
Screws for the carburettor and the rocker boxes and finally I made the spring for the back rocker box cover.

    IMG_1561.jpg IMG_1564.jpg

Trying to get it all buttoned up before next weekend Australia Day.
So it's got to be right by Friday.

I should make if nothing goes wrong.
    Famous last words those ones!

    IMG_1568.jpg IMG_1563.jpg

Just a side note I've been working on the scale for the frame,
and it works out that the bike's total length will be about 1600mm.

    Cheers.

If there is a model competition in Oz or somewhere OS, think seriously about entering it.

I would be very surprised if it doesn't get a winning gong

I agree with Ray. I've never seen a model like this, built using your methods. Truly unique.
If you put all of your models into an exhibition and charged admission, you'd make a small fortune.

I'm on the edge of my seat now, looking forward to the frame build and the completed masterpiece.

Thanks for some fantastic entertainment along the way.

Well I'm going to call that done.
Although there's a few little bits here and there
that I'll finish of to my own satisfaction, that's
about as much as I can build without the frame.

    IMG_1570.jpg IMG_1574.jpg

The last thing I needed was a piece of rubber for the
    kick-starter.
I thought it maybe a bit of a problem finding something
    that would look just right.

I made my way to the local recycler's "Aroundagain" hoping
    for some good luck.
The first thing I saw was the rubber handle on an old washing trolley.
And I can tell you it didn't wont to come off either!

    IMG_1575.jpg IMG_1578.jpg

I know it's not the exactly right for an Indian, but have you ever
seen something that wants to be on a 2/3 scale wooden kick-starter
more than that in your life!

    IMG_1571.jpg IMG_1572.jpg

Before I go on with the frame and the rest of the bike, here's a
    run down on the engine.

It took just over 1200 hours to build.
It has a little over 870 individual pieces in it.
    It's made from:

    MDF
    Pine
    PVC pipe
    Bodyfiller
    an old Credit Card
    a Corn Flakes Box
    a chopstick
    Ball point pens
    a pencil
    bicycle spokes
    pieces of a Baseball Bat
Twist ties from loafs of bread
    a coffee tin lid
    Fencing wire
    metal from a cloths horse
    copper pipe
    part of a broom handle
    plastic measuring cup
    the throat of a vase
the belt from a vacuum cleaner
and last but not least the handle of an old washing trolley.

    IMG_1579.jpg

    And it's all great fun!
Over the next couple of days I need to build something to hold
the engine while it's in the car, for it's trip on the weekend.

At some point next week I'll get started on the frame.
So until then I'll give you all a brake from my ranting!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and support!

    Cheers.
    Trevor.

    Trevor.
If you tell anyone other than us on the forum what its made from, they would lock you up as certifiably mad.
Just a thought, would be good to have a FAQ sheet / display board listing time, material, etc.

Also, if some lunatic was so stupid as to try and touch it to see if any of the moving parts do actually move, will they or would it cause some damage ie: the kick start or gear shift or will they move without any problem?

We await with eagerness for the next installment.

    Gotta love that parts-list.
Very well done, Trevor. Pat yourself on the back.
(You'll blow the boys away at Dave's get-together.)

P.S. I agree - that kick-start rubber looks like it was made for the purpose. Nice find.

Can't wait for the frame build. Already got my seat booked.

It's one of the main reasons my work is rarely seen out and about.
I try as much as I can to build it so that if a piece like the kick-starter is grabbed by someone it will come away.
But the truth is if I get the engine out of the weekend in one piece I'll be happy.

I don't think people mean to damage anything, but sometimes they seem to get a little frustrated being told it's not real.
When they get to the point that they think your taking the mickie out of them, that's usually when they grab at a part to prove a point.

In the end it's just something I always need to be aware of when I have my work on display.
But I'm not going to worry about it to much, I'm really looking forward to the weekend.
It will be great to get away for a couple of days.

When I get there on Saturday I'll be pretty easy to spot.
I'll be the guy carrying a 2/3 scale engine, kicking a roll of razor wire in front of himself.
With an over and under on his back!

    But really I'm not worried!

    Cheers.

Truly awesome. Can't believe I will be one of the first on the forum to see it up close and personal.

This time tomorrow I'll be on the road, really looking forward to it.
Hopefully the engine up-close doesn't disappoint.
    Cheers mate.

    Trevor,

Seeing your engine in person was even more amazing than looking at the photos of it. (Pity about those horrible faults though; I give it 6/10 HA HA HA HA!!! Told you I'm a stirrer!)

Seriously though, best use of a credit card since they were invented (butterfly valve)
