Well I just drove the 500 kilometres back to Mildura from Jerilderie.
I'm guessing you'd be hard pressed to have a more Ozzie Australia Day Weekend than driving through the heat
in the mild of nowhere, to the town that was held hostage by the Kelly gang.

And to top it all off meeting a really great group of people!
If that's what people mean when they say I need to get out more, I think they may be right.

So thanks to everyone for a great time, and as specially Dave for putting it all together.

You wouldn't believe it Cowboy the folks at the recycling centre think it's OK to take Public Holidays off!
How the heck is a bloke supposed to get anything done in a Country with an attitude like that!

But I've been working, I got up around five and started "I wont say restoring because it's to far gone"
a really beautiful ball and claw leg.
You should see this thing mate, it's just an outstanding piece of Craftsmanship.
No CNC Machine here!
But the best I can do with it is to fill all the crack's, resurface and paint it.

The guy I got it off is just terrific, honestly you know the type.
Down to earth, straight up and an all round good guy!

I think he could see straightaway how much I loved the piece, and along with another leg just gave them to me.
I'd really only just met the guy, but how kool.

I've got to say I'm pretty glad he did, I think at one point he was saying something about cutting them up to make pens.
Can you believe that.

Anyway mate I'll be down at the recycler's first thing tomorrow going through the old bikes looking for parts.
And I'd like to thank you again for a great weekend, and everyone who was there just a great bunch of people.
With a ton of knowledge and talent!

I dont know about you but 'when I was a boy' (and I am still male btw), I learned to jump fences lol. Now when it comes to bikes you could have asked me .... I have an array of stuff in the 'useful box' My hole backyard or is that whole? Some people call it either.

Anyway my entire property I consider the 'useful box'

Pens ... who would do such a thing - that is terrible.

Love to see these leg things you're talking about, they sound interesting. Guess that will be another thread.

On yet another note, my mate in the states told be you have a wealth of knowledge about planes, old ones I presume. I clicked on the links he sent and was expecting maybe a plane from Brokeback well a BiPlane anyway. How stupid am I .... derr .... I am on a woodowrking forum

Got a pic of those legs? You've piqued our curiosity.

They are beautiful Steve or at least they once were!
Dave probably should have made pens out of them, there's really not a lot else you can do with them.
But I just have to give it a try anyway.

One has the claw broken in half, and the crack's in both you could drive a bus through.
I feel like them doing then an injustice with what I'm doing to them.
But I really wont to see the true form of a least one of them.

I'll post some photo's tonight, at the moment the primer is drying on the part I've been working on.

And by the way Dave, don't underestimate your place there wasn't one person who didn't feel right at home.
You don't get to go to may places you can say that about straight up!

You can pretty much see straightaway what I've spent the day doing.
As I said I'm not calling it any kind of restoration.
I doubt it ever had a look like what I've done, but it's the best I could come up with.

If you have a look at the crack down the middle of the picture on the right.
I think you just about read the number plate of the 3:50 Bus to Frankston.
They really are in bad shape, but I think their wonderful.
Someone put some skill into them in the beginning.
I'll put them off to one side and work on them from time to time.
I've no idea what I'll ever do with them, but something's just float my boat!

Their just such a beautiful piece of curving, it's a real shame to see them like that.

You're not alone in liking those old legs, and you're doing an amazing job of the restoration. I wonder how old they are?

I agree with Dave - a new chaise lounge would be cool.

Well I've now seen this model up close and personal, and it's the staggering product of a fabulous talent! Superb craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Even the cooling fins on the head were hot! Or was that just the weather?

There is only one suggestion I could make Trevor, and that would be to put a drip tray under it, with a few drops of used engine oil - that'll have them scratching their heads in Melbourne.

Time to build a frame for the engine.
I went to my home away from home "Aroundagain" the local recycler's.
I grabbed a BMX bike some old galvanised pipe and a really nice adjustable table
to build it all on.

They'll all turn up as it goes along but for the moment this is how I get the scale of the frame.
Although this Indian isn't the exact model I'm building, the layout is good for running a scale.

To workout the scale I use the paint programme on the computer.
All I do is to measure my engine, and divide that by the number of pixels that cover the engine in the photo.
That gives me a ratio that I can use to build the frame from the picture.
Along with any other points in the photo I wont to reference.

It's always worked really well for me, but I admit I'll be checking it on that new you flash scaling program
that's on the forum.

Best I get to it.
